Volturnus Wind Power

Ok, this caught my eye.

Just saw this on the news. Instead of being mounted on the seabed, it floats. Full scale unit will be as high as the Washington Monument and be stationed 50 miles of the Maine coast where it won't be seen and where the winds are high and constant. Supposed to be good for 20K jobs, and 90% of the people of Maine are for it.

Unless proven otherwise, I think the people of Maine are being sold a bridge in NY.

Where did you see 20K jobs? The article mentions that the prototype model at 1/8th scale has a 20KW generator, but I saw no reference to jobs created by the project.

I like the concept of tethered floating wind turbines a lot better than having them built/founded on the sea bottom.
