Walmart (online vs in store pricing)

Yesterday. i decided that i wanted to get a certain item for my son for his birthday. Before going out to shop for it, I decided to check stock at local stores. Target did not have the item, but wal mart did (in stock and available for same day on store pickup). The price was $9.62. I had put the item in my shopping cart online, but i had to go there anyway and figured i would just get it myself rather than having it ready when i got there. So, when I see the item in the store, it is $16.96! I used my mobile to check the item sku, and it was the same one. From my mobile it showed limited in store availability (there were 4 on the shelf), and it was not available for in store same day pickup. Hmmm

I didn't buy it. Once i got home and checked from home, it was still in my shopping cart, and I ordered it for in store pickup. I got a text yesterday that my order was ready.

Interesting, isn't it? Difference in price, difference in availability on my mobile device vs home device.

My husband's friend ordered his tires online for in store pickup, and he paid over a hundred less than the in store prices.

Had the same thing happen with Best Buy. Item online was priced much lower. Was told by their clerk that the web-site is maintained realtime and stores often do not receive price updates for days. Could all be BS, but I now check and print online prices to take with me to any store for major items. Most will match with no hassle.. saved me hundreds this time at Best Buy.

I've done that at K-Mart too. I see it in the store, check online for a better price, and order for store pickup.

The webstore of Walmart is a seperate entity, independant from the brick and mortar stores.

And Walmart will not honor the Walmart.com price in the store but they will price match anyone else's online price..
