If you're considering an upgrade to Windows 8 this fall, Microsoft just made the option much cheaper.

The software giant announced Monday that anyone running Windows XP or a more recent version can upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for just $40.

I'll buy it before the end of Jan 2013 to get the discount on the EUL ($40). I won't install it right away though but once I have the EUL, it doesn't matter when I install it. Whenever I do install, I'll get all the updates.

I like 7 also. I'm still going to buy 8 during the discount period. After that, it'll cost $120, or more.

I've played around with the beta, been on every beta since Windows ME but I hate Windows 8. Even more than my utter loathing of Vista.
Windows 8 would work ok on a tablet but on a desktop or laptop I personally feel it's awful on the gui design. I understand they want it to be more in line with Windows phone but the whole thing is irritating beyond belief and hampers productivity.

I just bought a new computer and it said I can upgrade to Windows 8 when available for $14.99. I am thinking about doing it.
