Call from the above number and the person was representing themselves as being from the Washington Gas Company. The reason for the call (repeatedly) was a 10% discount for the next four months on my bill that I was getting because we use gas heat.
She stated my name, phone number and address. Then asked to really verify it was me by asking me for my account number.
I told her this is not something I carry around with me but if she was with Washington Gas why doesn't she tell me my account number and do this in reverse. She said that would not work but would call me at home if I gave her a time and we could complete our business then.
I told her that would not work and she hung up.
I called Washington Gas. The deal is like in the early 90's when phone companies were abound and new providers were popping up and enticing us to switch. MCI, Sprint, to name a couple. I remember the days of switching quite frequently and cashing the checks.
Difference between those days and now is the provider was not hiding anything.
