Watch who you're talking around

Chaos and Mayhem
Not that I am a prude or anything but I've recently noticed a new habit that some people are having.
Talking on the cell phone and being clueless as to who is in the area.
If you are talking on a cell phone and wish to use certain "vulgarities" please be aware of the small people around you and the sudden parental reaction you may solicit.
I will usually thank you for cursing around my child. Others may not be so charitable.
Just some advice....not a sermon. :howdy:

I had to talk to my grandma about that the other day. She is legally deaf in 39 states after a car bomb exploded next to her convertible Geo Metro. Anyway, she is always talking really loud about her colon cleansings and junk like that, it's really embarrassing.

Noticed this too, went out to dinner a couple of weeks ago and some guy a couple of booths up was airing his family's dirty laundry. At one point he was in a shouting match with the person on the other end of the phone conversation. When patrons approached him about it and asked him to keep it to himself, he acted like they shouldn't be listening in on his business and he had every right to talk on his cell phone there. :eyebrow:

People are so stupid. And it doesn't do any good to say something to them because they don't see what the problem is.

True and it's not just on cell phones. I've heard a lot of LOUD conversations with a lot of MFers thrown in just walking in parking lots or even in stores.

I love the neighbor who came out to the courtyard the other day and started talking on his cell phone about his financial status. I now know how much money he and his wife have in the bank, when they think they'll stop renting and actually purchase a house, how much down payment they will make and where they looked for loans. I swear he did all of this just so I could "overhear" how wealthy they are.

Cellphone antecdote

I was on a bus one time.

Some kid, probably 16-17 years old got on jaw-jacking on his cellphone to his buddy. Apparently he had been doing something he wasn't supposed to, because he was worried that his buddy's sister had seen him.

"Your sister, dude, she saw me."
"No she SAW me... Ess-Ay-Doubleyou-Ell... SAW Me. Stupid!"

That's right... he called his buddy "stupid" in the same breath as spelling "SAWL".

Oy ####ing vey.

I was just in Target and could hear in the next aisle over some guy f**in this, f**in that, assorted other colorful adjectives with all those agressive "K" sounds in them,-anyway. I walked over to say something to him about polluting young ears as I 'd just seen a few cute lil boys hanging around. They were HIS KIDS!! Hangin on his legs while he loudly trash mouthed someone over the phone!! I think he was busy belittling the mama about dog food choices or something. What a loser.

Ahh, I hate when people are so loud on their phones on the commuter bus. I've heard a lady telling someone that he would never see his kids again. I've heard a man talking to someone about this fine looking woman at work and she wears revealing clothes, he'd like to do her, etc. That same guy was on his phone another time talking to his wife about their baby. Then there's this loud woman who must stay on the phone 24/7. She gets on the bus on the phone, and leaves the bus on the phone. I've seen her in stores on the phone.

I work in a grocery store and late one night a man was having phone sex over his cell phone and had it on speaker. Everyone around could here both sides of the conversation. We were just laughing at him. Guess he didn't care.

I'm all for sarcasm but this entire forum is out of control.

Although..

We all have to admit that profanities have become what is known as 'common day to day' words by many people. Teenagers are no longer "closet cursers" (if that makes any sense). Adults feel like profanities just add to how they're trying to express theirselves. None of these people come to realize how silly using profanities all the time makes them look like. It's one thing to hold a conversation, but another to go around cursing like a sailor. I can understand profanity in jokes and when at the point of sheer aggrivation; but otherwise, it's normally uncalled for - even more so in a public environment.

Mobile phones have always been a bother to me, not to sound too negative in this post. It's just that, personally, I'd rather not be talking to someone in public (because that's normally when I've gone out to get away from people calling or contacting me - and to do the errands that need doing). Is it just me, but do you some times think people are talking to you in the grocery store - only to find out that they turn around to reveal one of those bluetooth headsets they're talking in? Lol..

I see your point, and most other points. All I can say is: "Let people speak how they want." I know the parents will get a little offended by this, but we all know that our children will end up cussing one day or another anyways. I'm not saying letting 2-8 year olds cuss up a storm is all that socially acceptable; but, explaining when it's appropriate to cuss (if at all, in your idealogy) might make things easier to an older (7 years or older) child.
