Water pipe hammering

My Daughter has pipe hammering when her toilet tank stops filling. Am I right in thinking her water pump pressure tank should stop that from happening?

Hammering caused by sudden shutoff of flowing water is prevented by having a short section of dead-ended pipe - couple feet or so - vertically above the water feed to toilet. It traps and remains filled with air to cushion water hammer events. I don't see that detail in the plumbing of older homes...

So it's not the departed Spirits calling from the great beyond? 😥

I gotta stop payment on that check to Madam Marimas House Of Mediums.

When I installed a new washing machine, it started doing that, the new shutoff valves were very abrupt. Got some anti-hammer devices and installed them on the washer.

I got ones that screwed right into the water lines on the back of the washer, but there are many types.
These can work. I used them in my clothes washer in my old house and they worked great. New house, not so much. But it's a cheap and easy thing to try.

I thought the air bladder in the well pump pressure tank would dampen this spike in water pressure. Apparently not.
Daughter mentioned the problem started after the toilet tank parts were replaced. This caused the tank to fill much faster than it did with the old parts. I suggested she turn the water supply valve to slow down the fill time. This solved her pipe hammering problem.

I noticed this faster tank filling when I replaced tank parts in one of my bathrooms a year ago. I have had no hammering problem.
New parts tank fill time 30 seconds, old parts tank fill time 55 seconds.

We can have hi-flow toilet valves but must live with low-flow shower heads - yup makes sense.
