Waterfox

Well, if you have a 32 bit system and you try to load a 64 bit application, you get a bunch of bits littering the floor as they fall out. Kinda tough to walk on.

If you right click on the computer icon ( in your start menu or on your desktop) and go to the properties selection. It will list your operating system. If it is 64 bit it will say so.

I use a Lenovo that was on sale for black Friday 2 years ago, upgraded the ram and she runs a bit better. For the $175 I paid for it I can't complain. I used Chrome on that for about 6 months, ended up downloading Firefox. Also tried it on our Toshiba which is much faster and newer, Firefox was still my go to browser. It might have been the interface, but I do know I did not like it.

Really, because FF was dragging slower and slower ........ Chrome seems very zippy

ok the interface takes some getting used to ...

..... I run Win 7 x64 w/6 Gb of Ram and a 2.83 Ghz. Quad Core

I'm also running Win 7 x64, i5 2430, 6Gb RAM. Yes FF has gotten slower over the years. Waterfox has been optimized for a 64 bit OS. Just ran across Pale Moon today, another FireFox based Open Source Browser Project. Going to test drive this one and see how it compares to Waterfox.

"Pale Moon 19 is a customised version of Firefox 19, which has been carefully optimised for speed and efficiency."

It also has both 32 bit and 64 bit versions. And can run side by side with FF or WF. I'll let ya know what I think.

They're out to get us
Firefox has improved since Chrome came out and became the "new rage". I use both of them because I've noticed Chrome doesn't support everything, so when it doesn't I use Firefox as my backup.

As for chrome. For those that don't like privacy invasion you do know google is probably one of the biggest for information harvesting.

I've been seeing the commercial on TV, they say "don't get scroogled", I think they are advertising Outlook.

Okay so a week later I have run into no problems with Pale moon. I have had no problems with the few plug ins I use with Firefox. Had no stability issues. On top of that there is a marked increase in my browsing performance.

I still have both Firefox and Waterfox installed in case I do run into issues, but after a week of use I doubt I will see any issues.
