I am not sure how valid this is. I got this in an email today. Has anyone else heard about this?

THE GENTLEMEN I SENT THIS TO MAKE SURE TO LET YOUR WIFE OR YOUR GIRLFRIEND
KNOW ABOUT THIS.

This is from my oldest sister, from a co-worker. Very legitamate. I went
there Tuesday morning before I came into work and did notice a state trooper
just sitting in the parking lot next to the air machine. Now it all makes
sense.

FYI - please be careful - this was the WAWA on Rt 301 by between Upper
Marlboro and Bowie - in the median strip.

this is creepy!

Lisa is the sister (in-law) of one of my friends. This hits very close to
home!

Spread this around I know you work with a lot of people who live in the area
Last night a girl I work with (Lisa) her gas light came on in her truck she
decided to stop at Wawa on 301 because she didn't have enough to make it to
Prince Frederick where she lives. Well as she was pumping her gas she was
approached by a black male who she said seemed very scary almost homeless
looking who told her she was going to buy him some gas. She said no, he said
you are going to buy me some gas and she said no I don't have any money. He
said well then how are you paying for that and she said with my card. He
then looked behind her and told another guy he was wit h (she didn't even
realize he was behind her) to get the gas can. And told her to fill it up
she at this point was very scared there was only one other car out there
beside her and they were in the store. Obviously the people inside don't pay
attention to the camera. By the time all of this went on her truck had
filled up and he was only able to get another $5 off her card before it shut
him off.

She got in her truck and locked the doors as she pulled off she got there
tag # and went directly to the police station to make a report. The officer
told her they have been going all around to different gas stations targeting
alone women and women with children in the vehicle. They called her again
this morning and told her they think they know who it is since she got the
tag info. And they will call her when they get the guys.

She is still very shaken today but fine but who knows what could have
happened to her. So let everyone know that you can to be very careful at the
gas stations around the area.

Yeah, I've received this "warning" three times. One time it mentioned a gas station in Clinton. The other two times were stations in New Jersey. But it is useful as a reminder for EVERYONE to watch what's going on around them at all times.

In My Opinion
10 minutes from my house...

That happened to me a few years back at the Rt 50 WaWa right before the bay bridge.

Im filling up my work van with gas car pulls up to the opposite side of the pump and a guy gets out and says, when you done, go ahead and fill mine too.

I told him I didnt think so.
he steps around the pump right next in front of me, so I put my hand in my pocket to grab my knife so I could poke him, all I had was my lighter.

he says, you got two choices, you fill it, or I fill it..
so I said, you forgot option #3
He says whats that?
I pull out the lighter, then the running gas pump, I spray gas on him and say, flamining (N word)
He left.

I find the NJ one hard to believe seeing as you cannot fill up your own tank in NJ.

I remember that when I went to visit my ex when he was in school there. It took me for a loop. Gas was really expensive too.

I was up there over Christmas and gas prices were .20 cents lower then here in Southern MD and I didn't even have to get out of the car (it was 12 degrees)

Not that I approve of your choice of language - but that's what always gets me about these stories - if you are filling up your gas tank - you have a weapon, you aren't defenseless.

Way to go bcp.

This was about 2 and a half years ago. I'm trying to remember the name of the town but I'm drawing a blank. It's not too far out of Camden:)barf:) but it was a nice town.

The moral of the story is, don't wait for your idiot light to come on before you get gas.

That would be my inclination. I don't think I would offer any conversation...just point and spray. Whether you have a lighter or not it is a dangerous situation for the soaked individual.

I might have even agreed to fill his car and popped open a door and hosed down the inside and him both.

What if she was low on Gas near her own WaWa and got gas there. It could happen anywhere..

I don't believe these stories but if they are happening than Prince Frederick is as good as Bowie!

In this instance it was well deserved.

Why does that help in this instance?

If you are concerned with things like this keep your tank full. Do it in the daytime at a busy station. Same with going to an ATM, grocery store, whatever.

Exactly the right thing to do!
You know folks, isn't it funny how, when I said the same thing last year on this forum, I got ridiculed for saying that women ACT so defenseless in this situation? I said that they should have sprayed the gas on his clothing or even his face (if attacked) and many ladies here said: well what if this or what if that.... They said what if he has a gun and shoots me? What if he has a knife an throws it at me?:blahblah: All lame excuses for not taking action and being a survivor instead of a victim.
And people, don't get back in your car and cry, scream or panic. Observe the make & color of the car, get the tag number and call 911.
