Luke 12:22 Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. 23 For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. 24 Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! 25 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? 26 Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?
27 “Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 28 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith! 29 And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. 30 For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31 But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.
32 “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. 33 Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. 34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Yesterday He told us not to worry about accumulating stuff. Today He told us why. I don't think God consulted Guzzi before He created humans. I don't think we were meant to wear clothes. I think we were created to live in Eden, where the weather is always perfect. After all, that's where God walked with Adam. Humans are the ones who decided to be ashamed or embarrassed about their bare asses. Humans are the ones who gave us clothes and shamed us into wearing them everywhere.
The Ten Commandments doesn't say anything about clean underwear.

Sell what you have and give alms: The command to give away what we have is a test of discipleship, and it is also a tool to train us as disciples. It points to giving as an antidote or cure to covetousness.
When you were sitting in the pew the last time, did the preacher go on and on and on and on until you just phased out and started thinking about something else? Did your thoughts go to the latest Amazon search, or was it the dinner you had to cook after service finally got done?
When you were sitting in the pew the last time, did you look around at what others were wearing and did you condemn them for poor taste, or did you break a commandment and covet what they were wearing?
God put that dent in your butt cheek. God put that freckle on your nose. God put you belly button in the middle of your belly. God counted the number of hairs on your little head. God didn't create you to wear clothes. God designed the first covering when Adam and Eve decided they needed to hide themselves.
If we need it, God will provide it. He's the best Father anyone could ever have. God created procreation, and we are all His creations. We are His "stuff" so we don't have to worry. He's there to care for us.
It's not what we want.... it's what we need. If we need it, God provided it for us. We have everything we need to survive until our time is up. When our number is up, not one outfit we wear, or bank account, or handmade doll, or one car, or one fine house, is going to stop death.
Worrying about when your number will be up won't do any good either! That number is what it is and nothing you can buy, or trade will stop it. You can try to bargain with God, but it won't help when He's decided it's done, it's done! Nothing you buy or wear is going to change anything.
You know what happened to people who worried themselves sick in the days of Jesus? They were thrown off a cliff because they were said to be full of demons.
God will provide. We are His creations. He will care for us just like He cares for the birds and the flowers. We have everything we need. We have instinct. We are the top of the food chain.
We are born naked!
