Ephesians 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. 19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
21 Tychicus, the dear brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will tell you everything, so that you also may know how I am and what I am doing. 22 I am sending him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are, and that he may encourage you.
23 Peace to the brothers and sisters, and love with faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love.
Someone much smarter than I wrote a commentary."Get thee away from me Satan?" and "Hail Mary" came to me this morning. Then that silly comedian who shriveled up and said "the devil made me do it". Follow that with "OMG" the latest.... Now we don't even bother with the salutation, it's all in three letters.
I'm guilty too. Just the other night, after I ran into the corner of the wall, yet again, because of my blind eye, I started a round of miserable thoughts, to which I had to say "Get the away from me Satan". He bugs me sometimes. He tells me I'm no good and not worthy. So, every now and then I have to remind him that I am a Child of God and I can tell him to leave and he has to go.
I feel a ton of guilt when I say "God dam it" or "Jesus Christ" in frustration. I did that the other day.... I could not get a crochet mini basket weave stitch to work out and in frustration I threw my work down and said "Oh my God". Immediately I had to apologize and ask His forgiveness. God has way too much going on to help me with my crochet pattern! But I did it, and I'm sorry.
Once we realize that God is in control of everything, we realize that we can ask His help anytime. Yep.... God is so great He can watch over the prayers of two wars, a hurricane, and an election campaign, while getting the Diamondbacks to the World Series, but He still has time to help me with a crochet pattern.
God is our all-knowing, all seeing, put up your dukes, body guard. Having God as our Father is like having armor. No one can really mess with us as long as "We've got God". As long as we follow those two Commandments Jesus gave us, we should have no problems. If Satan does do something, God's got our back. He'll give us the words and actions appropriate for the moment. If God thinks someone needs a comeuppance, He's capable. Through Him we are capable. We're His kids. He wants us to be ok.
And if it kills us.... we go to Heaven... SCORE!
We are God's Kids.... He has our back.
If we say "get thee away from me Satan" the devil has to leave.
Get into the Word. That armor is much more comfortable than you might think.
We are protected.... We are God's Kids!
