We need a good, LIVE, traffic report

Can I get an amen.
Freaking Google is better than the local radio stations on delivering information on traffic delays.
Well all I know is heavy traffic on 235.
Got a text, backed up on base.
Don't know if there is an accident on 235 or on the bridge.
Did notice the other night that when the bridge is backed up, the SB traffic on 235, making a left onto 4 NB, will block the box.
Limiting the number of vehicles that can pass north on 235.

Google Maps is pretty good about showing current traffic, but Waze is updated constantly by users on the road. They flag why the traffic is heavy, police action areas, construction....
These shots are as of right now.

I publish the Southern Maryland Chronicle and I also have a tech background with websites and Apps. I am currently working on an App to put on the site that will give real-time traffic. It's taking me a little more time than I would like but hope to have it rolled out by early October.

Have you tried the interactive map on Maryland 511? Don't know if it is as good as WV 511, but they are my go to before a road trip out here.

It's not bad. But I am looking to make something that is very specific to SoMd. Even little fender benders cause delays. I am also working on a few things for Live updates, but that's another story....lol

I have often wondered why the local (Lower Calvert and St. Mary's) radio stations do not have a scheduled call in line for regular commuters. I traveled the Rt 4/Rt 235 from Lusby for 20 years. I was on the road at the same time 5 days a week and would have gladly called in to a dedicated secret number to give travel updates and conditions. If they had volunteers who would call in with reports every 10-15 minutes we would have near real time reports for SOMD. If you want reports for the DC commute, they are on every station.

I have Google maps on my phone, but it's hard to read the phone while you are driving. The local radio stations pretty much use the same "source' and it's typically behind when it comes to the roads local - 235 / 4.
BTW, Waze is fantastic, I road with someone who used it while we were TDY, so they didn't know the area and we were taking all these crazy turns.
Turns out we beat everyone else to the place by 10 minutes because of the rerouting from WAZE.
But again, it just tells you to turn.
Not typically an option down here, it's 235 or 235.
5 has it's own problems, and when people try to shift from 235 to 5, it breaks 5.

What were we saying about tourism?
