Wedding Hair and Makeup

Does anyone know of a good salon in St. Mary's county that will do bridal party hair and makeup? I've looked at a few but I think 90+ dollars to do my hair is ridiculous. I'm looking for a place that isn't going to charge me outrageously.

Thanks

You are being charged 90+ because of not just the effort but also the time they will be spending on just you. Same reason we are charged 90+ to get highlights and color. You are taking up a solid block of time and I don't think its wrong for them to expect to be paid for it...

That, and it usually incldues a trial run beforehand. With a regular updo, you show up the day-of and they do their thing. For your wedding you want to be able to discuss things in advance so things go smoothly on the big day.

I think $90 is the average for wedding hair.

My MIL treated me too my hair and makeup for my wedding day (a friend of hers was a beautician/stylist) she paid $125 and that was nearly 13 years ago  I like the way I do my make up myself and didnt want to worry about someone screwing up my mug for that day so when she got to my house that morning I just let her do the hair and told her I could handle the make up.

Ehhh not sure for something as special as my wedding day I would let them do my hair.

If you're worried about price

Not everyone can do an updo..if that's what she wants. I think $90 is fairly reasonable.
I agree. Even though the girl who did my hair was very proffessional and had been doing hair for quite some time she didnt pin the veil on properly. Of course I didnt realize this until we were half way through our outdoor ceremony and the wind starting blowing my veil up and almost off my head. So I just pulled it off and handed it to my maid of honor

yeah I would do one or the other then. Most people can put on make up, very few can do an up do properly though

WHy do you need "wedding hair"??

Unless you plan on doing your hair everyday for the rest of your life..

I don't think he is marrying a "Wedding Day Woman", and if he's marrying you I'd assume he loves the everyday you..

SO, on that VERY special day, be the everyday you that he fell in love, and is in love with. You don't want to set his expectations too high..

When he looks back at the wedding day pictures in 10 years, and asks.. "Where is that BEAUTIFUL woman that I married!??" The bar won't be set to high to attain that wedding day look again for him.

Clinique will do your makeup for free but its nice to buy the lipstick or powder or something since it does take time for the consultant. If you want to book a pre-consultation they will find your colors and then the day of they already have your file and can recreate the look quickly. Not sure what to tell you about the hair!

I'm not from this area and I was kind of shocked to find the high prices in salons here. I didn't realize that 90+ was the norm for an updo!! I also didn't know you could make an appointment to get your makeup done at the clinique counter. That is very good to know!

You can also do that at the Mac counter. My girlfriends and I used to do that for prom, and I still do it sometimes if I am at the mall and going out later on that evening

Why do you need "wedding hair"??

Looking back now, I hated my wedding hair. I wanted it down and flowy, but was talked into the tight up do to be more formal (MIL, I'm looking at you). Just not me. Should have stuck with me.

I just got my hair done at Platinum salon and watched them do a couple of updos. They were beautiful. I looked at my brochure I have and they start out at $45-65. Try them. They are off Chancellors Run Road. Very nice salon.
