Weekend in Philadelphia

Going to Philly for the Halloween weekend. I was figuring to go to the historic area (Independence Hall, Liberty Bell) on Saturday morning for a few hours. We have tickets for the "terror behind the walls" on Saturday night late.

Does anyone have any suggestions on something to see/do for those hours after lunch. Anyone have a suggestion on where to get a famous Philly Cheesesteak? I am not traveling with any kids so looking for things adults might like!

I've heard that two places in Philly are rivaled for the THE best cheesesteak and they are right across the street from each other...Pat's and Gino's (sp?) If you decide to go there, I would love to hear your opinion on whichever one you try. This was even featured recenlty on the new show, Food Feuds.

Born and raised in Philly.

Pat's or Geno's? All about preference. I personally like Steve's Prince of Steaks (not right in that area - closer to, or on South Street)

You need to check out the Mutter's Museum!!!:yahoo:

I love South Street... Eye's Gallery for their strange and wonderful collection and Condom Kingdom... some very cool bookstores and art down there.

There really aren't any BAD cheese steak places in Philly, at least that a tourist will find. Geno's, Pats are the standard. Jims on South Street is a good one also. But ANY cheese steak/hoagie deli around the city will more than satisfy your cheese steak search.

Once you find a cheese steak, I highly suggest you go to a deli and get a real Philly hoagie. Italian, sweet or hot, I prefer sweet, and have it packed for travel. You can eat it when you get home, or even the next day. Like no other, any where.

If you need a suggestion of where to get one (cheesesteak, chicken cheese steak, hoagie) for the ride home...my absolute favorite is right off 95, south of the city. You can call ahead and pick it up on your way home. They are open on Sundays from 10Am to 4pm.

Little Hut 610-532-9679. 95 South to the Ridley Park Exit (2nd exit south of the Philly Airport. Go right off the exit. Make your next right. Go about a half mile, through 2 lights, just as you get to the top of the hill, it's on your left attached to a Deli called "Pike COld Cuts", but do NOT bother going in to Pike's. Just trust me on that one.

Been going there since I was a kid, and I have not found anything better yet. And I have tried them all.
