A wrap up of local forum golf action.

Saturday, Otter Woods continued his backslide in the forum golf standings. FSAGT players suffered from high humidity despite the relatively cooler temps. Tied at the end of regulation Otter and Pete had to go to a playoff hole on the par 3, 16th to decide the victor. After Pete hit his Tee shot short and to the right it seemed Otter might pull it off. It was not to be, as both ended up with a double bogey forcing them to a second play off hole on the par 4, 17th. The 16th hole was actually won by Airgasm with a bogey but the point was insignificant as he was WELL down the leader board.

At the par 4 17th Airgasm was first to Tee off driving into the tall weeds. Otter was next with a lost ball in the tall weeds at the edge of the water hazard. Pete's tee shot was dead center of the fairway with 140 yard to the hole.

Airgasm searched for his ball in vain eventually taking a drop and driving a fairway wood to within 4 feet of the front edge of the green narrowly missing a trip to the beach.
Laying 2, Otters next shot was pushed way right and came to rest under a root, in a wet sandy lie next to a tree at the base of an active volcano. Pete countered with an 8 iron second shot to within 5 feet of the hole in 2. Laying 4 still faced with a chip onto the green and subsequent putts, Otter elected to pick up and concede the hole and the match. Pete, without a doubt the worst putter on the FSAGT, 2 putted because a hideous clump of crabgrass deflected a sure birdie, to par out the par 4 17th and notch his second consecutive tour victory over Otter Woods.

Despite his second place finish, Otter provided 2 moments of entertainment worthy of ESPN’s sports center. The first becoming tangled in the rope barrier seperating the cartpath from the tee box and doing an :otter: onto the ground, and a spectacular shot turned bad when his ball struck a tree and ricochet under the deck of a house 20 yards behind him.

Just a little rant...

Chesapeake Hills is actively making changes and improvements but the greens have gone steadily downhill over the 6 weeks we have been going out there. It doesn't make sense to be spending money on traps, sod for bare areas and new tee boxes if you are gonna ignore basic maintenance on the greens. I think the somd tour is moving to a new venue in the coming weeks.

:yeahthat:

$40 to try and weave a put through huge clumps of run away crab grass is BS.

While action on the course, as always, was intense and entertaining...

I think the viewing audience would be more interested in commentary from action at 19th hole... :yay:
