The correct response to anyone hysterical about the world ending is, "So?" Observe:

"The world will end in 400 years!"
"So?"

It's like Gretel. Right now she's looking out the window and is incensed that across the pond is someone walking their dog.

"Grrrr! There's a dog over there!"
"So?"
"Right there - it's over there!"
"So?"
"It's making me mad!"
"So?"

That other dog doesn't affect her personally in any way, there is no reason for her to be so upset, if she didn't see it it would have precisely zero impact on her life. But her doggie brain can't process that concept. Gretel sees the world as revolving around her so she's barking furiously at this other dog - "Hey! Get off my pond!" - who doesn't even know she exists. I explained to her that if she weren't looking out the window like Gladys Kravitz she wouldn't be so agitated, but she is focused on that other dog to the exclusion of reason.

Such is the sad plight of the modern liberal. They are triggered by things that have nothing to do with them and their brain isn't sophisticated enough that anyone can explain the situation and calm them down. Now, I'm just dealing with Gretel right now. Imagine 30 or 40 Gretels sitting here looking out the window:

"Grrr! There's a dog over there!"
"What? Where?"
"There!"
"Grrr! What's that dog doing over there??"
"Grrr! Get out of here, other dog!"
"ArfArfArf! Grrr! Dog! Get out of here!"

And within a second Gretel and her gang are in a frenzy, feeding off of each other's anxiety...over something that has nothing to do with them.

Now imagine if dogs had Reddit and Tik Tok. It would be chaos.

I am 82 and don't consider myself to be selfish.
I want to be able to afford heating oil to keep myself warm this winter, and gasoline so I can get to the store and doctor's appointments and maybe even a little vacation. I want the border closed to illegals even if that means it may cost a little more to replace my roof with American workers. I don't want to drive an upholstered Golf Cart that might get me to Leonardtown and leave me at Clements on my way home. Even though I might enjoy a few minutes at Anderson's bar. I enjoy running a trot line and a boat ride once in a while I don't want an electric boat. Electrolysis anyone?
I cut a lot of grass and don't feel like dragging 400 feet of electric cord, or changing the battery half way through. I want a good life for my Grandchildren and i don't feel that anything i am doing today will cheat that from them.
