Capitol punishment isn't a deterrent because it isn't utilized properly.

Make executions public events. Let John Q. get up close and personal with some violent killer as they take their last breath. No more sitting on DR for decades. 2 quick appeals then time to light up ole sparky. Visually a hanging is the most poignant execution. You can watch the Spandau ballet at the end which you don't get with a lot of the other methods. Although that scene from the Grren Mile where Percy doesn't wet the sponge was quite dramatic.

Yep, and I'm perfectly willing to give up some edge cases where we don't have 100% ironclad cases to life in prison if they will give me the 100% cases where we know incontrovertibly that they did it. My two guys in CT shoulda been put down inside a year.

It's Oregon. Why is anybody surprised?

I think if one of Gov. Brown's pet criminals leaves her state and commits a crime anywhere else, we should be able to strap that insane bitch to the chair and flip the switch on her. She should be punished for the crimes she enabled and encouraged.

I think that about judges and lawyers, too. If they cut some scumbag loose and he commits another crime, the lawyer and judge should be put to death.

You'd see that chit stop right quick.

Why not commute their sentence, they had no intention of ever executing them anyway.

Only 2 since 1962, the last in 1996.

The death penalty is no deterrent if it is not used or not used in a short time after conviction.
