Western Europe is finally "getting it".

"This amazing display has prompted a wave of soul-searching. When a Le Monde editorial titled "Arab Spring" acknowledges "the merit of George W. Bush," when the cover headline of London's The Independent is "Was Bush Right After All?" and when a column in Der Spiegel asks "Could George W. Bush Be Right?" you know that something radical has happened."

"A Lebanese, amid a sea of a million other Lebanese, raises a placard reading "Thank you, George W. Bush," and all that Euro-pretense, moral and intellectual, collapses." </NITF>

But you just KNOW the American libs don't "get it." All they get is the fact that the 'L' word is poison. Therefore the mass clamor and scramble to claim to be "progressive."

I have the feeling - that if GW Bush turns around sentiment from Europe towards the US, that what we're doing to promote democracy in the Middle East is actually working............it's going to make it that much harder for the democrats to regain the White House in 2008.

That was one of the Kerry/Edwards' biggest lament over GW's policies toward Europe: that relationships with the US had sunken to an all-time low.

What if he manages to actually gain their respect and/or favor?

It still all rides on who the Republicans can nominate for the race. Bush's success in Europe and the middle east won't carry any of the contenders to the White House.
