A former Maryland sheriff's deputy and his wife were found in a buried ATV that was washed away by flooding in Camp Creek on Wednesday afternoon.

Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies confirmed Scott Brown and his wife, Laura, were recovered from the ATV.

Sheriff's officials said they spent the afternoon rescuing people, but it wasn't until after the ATV rental company called to report a missing vehicle, that deputies found the Browns.

Scott Brown was a former Calvert County Sheriff's deputy in Maryland. The Browns were apparently in Arizona on vacation.

Arizona gets wonky weather - we told you guys about the freaking hail storm that pelted us in Flagstaff in August. What a shame about this couple.

This is better placed in the Darwin Awards thread. I spent several months hiking and tent camping in central AZ about 35 years ago, and there are signs warning of sudden flash floods which can happen extremely quickly seemingly every 1,000 feet. Ignore them at your own peril.
