Matthew 18:1 At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
2 He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. 3 And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.
6 “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. 7 Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come! 8 If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. 9 And if your eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.
The community I live in is designated for 55+. I don't see a lot of children these days. I don't get to talk to any of them anymore. I can only imagine what they think of us.I remember when everyone over 30 was the enemy.... "Sold out to the man". Anyone else ancient enough to remember the late 60's and the 70's?
I remember thinking the government was bought and paid for. I remember Nixon saying, "I am not a crook". I remember how it affected the kids back then.
I remember the "civil defense practice" at school. Anyone else remember hiding under a desk because the atomic bomb might be shot at us?
I remember when we put our news casters in with the troops in Vietnam, so we could see "first-hand" the "power" of war. They must not have filmed the atrocities everyone was talking about.
I wonder.... how do our children feel about abortion?
How do our kids feel about us?
Do they enjoy school shootings and lockdowns?
Do they enjoy being locked in the classroom hiding in the closet or under the desk?
How many of our children really belong to Jesus?
Are we even taking our children to church these days? I remember when the worst thing we worried about was the age of the child who wanted Baptism. In my church, when I was a kid, you had to be 13 to be Baptized. By the age of 13 these children many have already been shot at. Our children watched a little girl in a bomb shelter sing a Disney song.
How do our kids feel about us?
