Our server has detected the presence of multiple IP connections from your machine, with one of the connections being an "Open Proxy" or blacklisted IP. Connections of this nature are often used in order to abuse, spam or defraud. Our server has denied you any further access until both IP addresses can be resolved or the presence of the Open Proxy connection closed

 How can you have two IP addresses?

 How can you have two IP addresses?

The first thing that popped into my mind was bcp and DU. :lmao:

From what I remember, there are ways to use other IP addresses so that a website can't identify you as the last person (as in who you were when they booted you from their site).

Maybe the reason you have two IP addresses is logging into the same site from a work PC as well as a home PC?

:nono: You won't catch me on the DU.

My friend was registering for a VBulletin forum and that's what she got. I tried registering her name from my house and it wouldn't let me either. I doubt anyone in her house has registered on that site.

Perhaps someone who was banned from the site had the same name she uses, I dunno.

Would the fact that she changed her modem yesterday make a difference?

Are you going through or using an anonimizer? Do you have a web server running. Some Microsoft OSs and programs start one by default. An improperly configured web server can act as a open relay which are blocked by most good servers. Also you could have spyware or a trojan or a virus that is using your machine through a back door.

Different cable or DSL modem could. If her ISP uses dynamic IP based on MAC addresses, she would pull a different IP.

Your web browser is using a proxy server - like 2A says, it might be an anonymizer.

Go to Tools | Internet Options | Connection tab | Lan Settings button...

Bottom button "Use Proxy Server" is probably checked and there is an IP address and port filled in... not sure of why or IF you need this, but uncheck and restart IE.

Write down the IP and port you are using in case it blanks it out after you uncheck it...

I'm trying to recite this from memory, so this might not be completely correct.
Try this:

Click [START]----->[RUN]

Then type: ipconfig\release

What that should do is clear your IP address.

Then clear the box and type in: ipconfig-----> press [enter]

If I can find something resembling a more reliable instruction, I'll send it to you or post it.

I found this. Hope it helps.

XP/2000 users
1. To refresh your IP while PC is running:
2. Click Start, then Run, then type in the box "cmd" and then click OK to open the command-line window.
3. Next type "ipconfig /release" then hit Enter. The IP address should read 0.0.0.0.
4. Now type "ipconfig /renew" and hit Enter. Now the IP address should read 65.175.x.x OR 192.168.x.x if you are behind a router.

Cool. I should just have her some read this and do it herself..She's over in her forum.

Otherwise I'll go be her place tonight and do it.

Thanks!

I'm not trying to be a wisea** but do you have tech support for your internet provider; and have you called them with this problem?

Perhaps there is a new/different/better remedy. Maybe you could call one of some place like TQCI or one of the other IP's around here. (Another maybe) Maybe one of them could "talk you down" over the phone.

I'll call Verizon and see what they say.

Unfortunately I can't be online and call them at the same time. I'm still on dreaded dial up since I'm 2 freakin' driveways away from their DSL cut off and Metrocast wants 6000 bucks to run cable to my house.

Ahhh, I see. You have VERIZON. Still, their tech support should at least be able to tell you what problem you're having. It just means you have to take notes and write details down, then call them; if you can't call them from your cell phone. Okay, I'm through with my unsolicited suggestions.

I don't know anything about VERIZON DSL. I have internet and expanded basic cable thru "METROCRAP," as so many folks call it, but I don't have a whole lot of issues with them.
If the TV's out, the internet's out too. Then I have to :ohwell:read a book!

If you are on dial up, you get a different IP every time you log on. So most of what has been posted does not apply. You may not even pull a routable IP. That would mean that the Verizon network gateways your traffic out more than one gateway. You could have traffic during the same session from more than one IP at a time.

The forum you are going to probably has a setting to restrict the session to the IP address that opens it. That is more secure. If your packets come out one gateway and then another, you appear to come from more than one IP.

You may be able to set a permanent route in your routing table to always have your packets go out the same gateway if you can find the gateway IPs for Verizon or use tracert to find the route the packets take to the forum site. Use the gateway that uses the fewest hops to get to the destination site.
