Yet no message was as unpopular as the one we call the “democratic threat” message.
Much like Harris’s recent rhetoric, this message called on voters to “defend our freedom and our democracy” against a would-be dictator in the form of Trump. It named Trump as “a criminal” and “a convicted felon” and warned of his plans to punish his political enemies. Of the seven messages we tested, each relating to a major theme of the Harris campaign, the “democratic threat” message polled dead last.
Populism vs. Plutocracy
It's hard to watch the wealthy elite demand obedience from us and punish us when we refuse to comply, then see them as defenders of democracy.
They've gotten so wrapped around themselves that they're all over the place having a fit because....the majority of voters voted against....democracy....
Stephen Colbert said it flat out:
To them "democracy" means, "Do what we, the 1%, say." Which is, of course, the exact opposite of democracy.
So I want to offer an apology to my fellow humans. I really didn't think they had it in them. Independent thought is a marvelous thing and it always makes me happy when I see someone exercising it.
