VPs usually aren't very visable figures (at least not that I've seen). Do you remember Gore doing anything during Clinton's presidency? I remember Hillary being more visable. A close watch of the news shows a pretty good picture of what Cheney is doing. He's out making sure that Bush's agenda gets carried out. Usually a second-term VP is focused on doing some high-vis efforts to show why he should be prez, but since Cheney isn't running he's free to keep working diligently on doing things like making sure funding gets to the right places, lobby for SS reform, work issues between State and Defense, etc. Cheney's never been a high-profile egotist like some other VPs we've seen lately.
