How does one use a teeny weeny doggie to predict what the atmosphere will be? Throw them up and if they if they come down wet its raining? If they don't come back down it's really windy. :lmao:
Why yes, of course! Want me to get you one too? :lmao:

A harness isn't mean IMO at all. I think it is rather smart parenting; you can walk your kid until they get tired.

I have an 8-year old that roams but he'd have something to say about me using a harness on him at his age, but I do threaten it all the time.

PVA MOP and one of the women I was chatting with at the fair bought hers from QVC years ago and she said she wore it out. She said it was the best mop she ever owned but she hasn't seen it advertised again on QVC to reorder. I think this guy will be at the Calvert fair also. He is the same guy that does the commercials for them.
Do you t hink she may have been a plant??

The harness comes in really handy about the time they reach puberty. :lmao:

we went out there on Saturday, it was good for my daughter because she loved the rides....and the animals! The smell was not very pleasant but it was fine. I didn't step on anything weird, just got a lot of dirt on my flip flops, probably not the best thing to wear on your feet at a fair anyhow.

If she was then she should have addressed everyone on the fence. Singling someone out with attitude is not necessary. If she had addressed the crowd and they had stayed then maybe her added-tude could be warranted. IMO. :flowers:
She was not part of the group running the program. She was a by-stander like everyone else.

The reason I threw the race card out there, my friend said she was making comments, some of which were race related. I believe this whole thing was started because of race, simply put. The kids were not jumping, screaming, yelling or hanging on the fence, they were simple standing there watching.

And for everyone else complaining about the "leashes" for kids. I have one for my 1 year old. It is a back pack harness, OMG doggie shaped! I only use it when we go for walks in the neighborhood just in case she lets go my hand I don't want her to run in front of a car. My daughter has borrowed it for my grand daughter who absolutely hates the stroller. She used it at the fair, and my grand daughter was much better behaved than if she had used the stroller and had her screaming all day to get out! Everyone is can have their own opinions, just like azzholes, everyone has one. I see nothing wrong with it.

I'm not freaking out. I just think that it is ridiculous. Do you have kids?
I do, and I've used tethers before. Travelling especially.. When young kids first learn to walk, they want to walk unaided.. and with a tether they can, yet you still maintain control.

Have you ever lost a child in a store? I have.. two seconds.. I turned to look at a CD, turn to show my daughter (than about 2) and she's GONE!! I look around the general area and can't find her.. I ask the clerk to make a PA announcement or call someone that can, she refuses (pre Adam Walsh days) and I STILL can't find her.. Her mom walks around the store frantically looking for her, and I RUN to the front door hoping that if someone grabbed her I can catch them as they are leaving the store.

Do you have ANY idea how that felt??

You being insulted about me having her on a tether would feel a lot better than the feeling I had that day.

From that day on I used a tether, usually something inconspicuos like a srist to wrist tether.. but the kids really enjoy it. Nicholas (20 months) and I played with one at Arundel Mills, and he did EXACTLY what his oldest brother did (he's now 20).. Stretched it out as far as he could to see how much freedom he had.

And I'd take the upturned noses, and the stupid remarks ANYday over losing Nicholas in a crowd.

I saw some woman and I am guessing her mother with 3 kids...all of them on leashes!!! Has she not heard of a stroller...they work wonderfully and you don't have to treat your kids like dogs!!!
I'm sorry. They got tired of being in cages, so I decided to leash them and take them out for the day. :huggy:

A 2 year old and a 4 year old. I'm sure you do many things that other people find rediculous. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's wrong.
DB and I took 5 kids to the fair but would never think of using leashes on them. You can do what you want with your kids but I would never do it. JMO it reminds me of walking my dog. I have 4 kids and I own a double stroller and the other 2 walk.

Then why are you defending the harness

Because I don't see anything wrong with them. Comparing a child on a harness to a dog on a leash is just plain retarded, IMO.

That's cool. But, my kids and my dog don't look at all alike. So, even if I did use one of those harnesses on one of the kids, I would never think of my dog.

How is it any different  My dog doesn't need a leash and either do my children. I guess people forget about discipline and just blame everything on ADD.
