I'm a parent for the *first* time at 40 something, and family and friends already say older parents are more patient and treasure the moments more.itsbob said:Would you agree being a 40 (something) year old parent was a lot easier than being a 20 year old parent??
Since I didn't see Bob reply, I'll do it for him.SoMDGirl42 said:Itsbob, when is your sons b-day? Sounds like our kids are very near the same age. And if you don't mind my asking, how young are you?

You do not look 44.BadGirl said:Since I didn't see Bob reply, I'll do it for him.
Our son's birthday is Jan 3rd.
Bob is 45 and I am 44. I had Bubba just a month shy of 43rd birthday. Oh, and I am young, Bob is not.![]()

and there's nothing wrong with that. I'm 40, and her dad just turned 33 in July.I LOVE his energy.. Just trying to keep up with him keeps me (us) moving and tends to keep us off of the couch, and we spend more time outdoors. I'm much more relaxed, don't freak out over every cough or sputter.. and let him pick himself back up if he falls.SoMDGirl42 said:It is easier in some regards. I think I have more patience. I know they grow up so fast, so I think I spend more time just enjoying every moment. I'm not saving pennies to buy milk and diapers at 40 like I was at 20. However, I do remember having more energy at 20 to keep up with a toddler! I wouldn't change it for the world!
What's your opinion? Do you spend everyday explaining to people that your son is your son but your grandson is your grandson? Sometimes it drives me crazy!

Why, thank you.
Consider your day made then.BadGirl said:Why, thank you.
But just to clarify something....did you just insinuate that Bob DOES look old?
If so, that would just make my day.![]()

more support for my argument.. thank you!!nitwhit3286 said:Yeah, leashes are for dogs not for kids. My daughter held either my or my husbands hand the whole time. It think its wrong to have a strap on a childs hand or a "backpack" with a nylon leash attached. It looks stupid and personally I will never use one.![]()
Another endorsement!nitwhit3286 said:Yeah, leashes are for dogs not for kids. My daughter held either my or my husbands hand the whole time. It think its wrong to have a strap on a childs hand or a "backpack" with a nylon leash attached. It looks stupid and personally I will never use one.![]()

Let me add, I've never used one, but there were times when I would have had I had one. Much easier on the kid and you than holding onto the collar.desertrat said:Another endorsement!
