Depends - you want to watch out for teh school districts there more than anything if you plan on being there for the next few years. I thought you were moving to VA??

No openings at bases we're willing to go to. So we're coming closer to the park.

Girl....you just move into that house......

You could probably make some money off the house the way the market is now though. Yeah I have been still looking only if I could get a job down in the park - I probably would be good to go on getting a house.

I'd avoid Westbury, between GM and Pegg. Anything south of your office is good, or west of 5.

We bought at a good time and are sitting pretty as far as profit. I hate the house. It's really cute with a lot of character but totally non functional. It's a good time to sell because there are NONE like it on the market in Mechanicsville.

I really want an old house to renovate. But it doesn't look like those are easy to come by either. I need something cute and functional.

Pix - you don't live far from the Park now and the schools are decent. You'll make a bundle on the house but replacement costs........I'd stay put. Its only a 25 minute drive.

Oh I see well that is understandable. Yeah we were looking for the renovating houses to but, they are hard to come by. There have been a few we looked at and really we would had to of torn down the house...LOL.

Well, good luck but really I would wait another year or something...it has to be better then where you were....

But I hate the house. I'm not worried about the schools. I decided a while ago that I was going to put Noah in a private school.

Just remember that you need to have used the property as your primary residence for 2 of the last 5 years in order to avoid the capital gains tax on your profit.

Brent and I were just talking last night about how we'd rather be back in the heights. The house was 1/3 the size but more functional with 2 kids. The only real plus is the fenced in yard. And even that, we have over an acre and only use 1/5 of it.

Bottom line is, how much $$$$ you want to spend, all kind of new developments in the area... Marrick has one a little behind the Sheetz on Great Mills ROad, couple of more developments going up on WIllows Road.. LOTS of fixer uppers in that area.. but still the bottom line is $$$.. even a fixer upper in a good neighborhood is going to cost.

Oh wow really....than what did you spend that kind of money on it for silly one? I know what you mean though you need to like your house you live in. Gosh at least you have your own place right now....I can't wait.

St Mary's county in general is expensive (house or rental wise). My dad rents our old house up in PA. 4 bedroom, 2 bath, 2 car garage, rambler on 2 acres for $800 a month. I am paying for a 2 bedroom, one bath, no garage apartment: $810 a month.

Well if you hate it, you really won't be happy. The Leonardtown/Hollywood area has loads of houses that need TLC.

Ideally, I want an old house that I can totally redo. I don't want something that was built in the 70s or 80s and just not taken care of. I know it's a long shot. I LOVE old houses though. They have so much character.

I'm very prepared to settle with a newer house that's just set up well.

I have plenty of time to think about my "dream" house.
