Another good one is "My Little Girl" by Tim McGraw

Verse 1:
Gotta hold on easy as I let you go.
Gonna tell you how much I love you,
though you think you already know.
I remember I thought you looked like an angel wrapped in pink so soft and warm.
You've had me wrapped around your finger since the day you were born.

Chorus:
Your beautiful baby from the outside in.
Chase your dreams but always know the road that'll lead you home again.
Go on, take on this whole world.
But to me you know you'll always be, my little girl.

Verse 2:
When you were in trouble that crooked little smile could melt my heart of stone.
Now look at you, I've turned around and you've almost grown.
Sometimes you're asleep I whisper "I Love You!" in the moonlight at your door.
As I walk away, I hear you say, "Daddy Love You More!".

(Repeat Chorus)

Verse 3:
Someday, some boy will come and ask me for your hand.
But I won't say "yes" to him unless I know, he's the half
that makes you whole, he has a poet's soul, and the heart of a man's man.
I know he'll say that he's in love.
But between you and me. He won't be good enough!

BUT...Wind Beneath My Wings is so blah..EVERYONE has it. Pix is one of a kind, she needs something original. :yay:
I wasn't suggesting it as the song - just that its a song one would dedicate to their parent.
Normally if the bride picks the song its a dedication to the father. Daddy's Little Girl - another old faithful - is a traditional father to daughter.

I think Pix should let Dad hear both songs she likes, because the words are beautiful, and let him pick the one he wants to dance to with her.

Twenty Something
I think "Unforgettable" by Nat & Natalie would be a great father/daughter song.

"You and I" by Jason Mraz would be fun for the announcing the new Mr. & Mrs.

"Daddy's Hands" by Holly Dunn. It's old (mid 80's), but...

I remember daddy's hands folded silently in prayer
and reaching out to hold me when I had a nightmare
you could read quite a story in the caluses and lines
years of work and worry had left their mark behind

I remember daddy's hands how they held my momma tight
and patted my back for something done right
there are things that i've forgotten that I loved about the man
but I'll always remember the love in daddy's hands

[chorus]
Daddy's hands were soft and kind when I was cryin
Daddy's hands were hard as steel when I'd done wrong
Daddy's hands weren't always gentle but I've come to understand
there was always love in daddy's hands

I remember daddy's hands working til they bled
sacrificed unselfishly just to keep us all fed
If I could do things over, I'd live my life again
and never take for granted the love in daddy's hands

[chorus]
Daddy's hands were soft and kind when I was cryin
Daddy's hands were hard as steel when I'd done wrong
Daddy's hands weren't always gentle but I've come to understand
there was always love in daddy's hands
[repeat]

I know nothing
I have to admit, my wedding and reception was a blur..... Im glad we have some video of it. Wife picked out the all the songs. My sister picked out the mother/son dance song. My job was to pay for the thing and dance my butt off. Oh yeah, and get drunk.

I had the easy part..... :lmao:

Mine was ... "Could I have this dance."
by Anne Murray

I'll always remember the song they were playin',
The first time we danced and I knew,
As we swayed to the music and held to each other,
I fell in love with you.

Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?
Would you be my partner every night?
When we're together, it feels so right.
Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?

I'll always remember that magic moment,
When I held you close to me.
'Cause we moved together, I knew forever,
You're all I'll ever need

Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?
Would you be my partner every night?
When we're together, it feels so right.
Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?
That was the last song played at our reception. The first was Colin Raye's "One Boy, One Girl"

He finally gave in to his friend's girlfriend when she said
"There's someone you should meet."
At a crowded restaurant way 'cross town,
he waited impatiently.

She walked in, their eyes met, and they both stared.
And right there and then, everyone else disappeared,

But one boy, and one girl,
two hearts beating wildly.
To put it mildly, it was love at first sight.
He smiled, she smiled, and they knew right away
that this was the day they'd waited for all their lives.
And for a moment the whole world
revolved around one boy and one girl.

In no time at all they were standing there, in the front of a little church,
among their friends and family, repeating those sacred words.
Preacher said, "Son kiss your bride" and he raised her veil.
And like the night they met, time just stood still

For one boy, and one girl,
two hearts beating wildly.
To put it mildly, it was love at first sight.
He smiled, and she smiled, and they knew right away
that this was the day they'd waited for all their lives.
For a moment the whole world
revoloved around one boy and one girl.

He was holding her hand when the doctor looked up and grinned
"Congratulations. Twins..."

One boy, one girl.
Two hearts beting wildly.
To put it mildly it was love at first sight.
He smiled, and she smiled,
and they knew right away
that this was the day they'd waited for all their lives.
For a moment the whole world revolved around one boy and one girl.

aka Mrs. Giant
His song was
From the halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli,
We fight our country's battles in the air, on land and sea.
First to fight for right and freedom, and to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title of United States Marine.
Our Flag's unfurled to every breeze from dawn to setting sun.
We have fought in every clime and place, where we could take a gun.
In the snow of far off northern lands and in sunny tropic scenes,
You will find us always on the job, the United States Marines.
Here's health to you and to our Corps, which we are proud to serve.
In many a strife we've fought for life and never lost our nerve.
If the Army and the Navy ever look on heaven's scenes,
They will find the streets are guarded by United States Marines

Mine was
March along, sing our song, with the Army of the free
Count the brave, count the true, who have fought to victory
We’re the Army and proud of our name
We’re the Army and proudly proclaim
First to fight for the right,
And to build the Nation’s might,
And The Army Goes Rolling Along
Proud of all we have done,
Fighting till the battle’s won,
And the Army Goes Rolling Along.
Then it’s Hi! Hi! Hey!
The Army’s on its way.
Count off the cadence loud and strong (TWO! THREE!)
For where e’er we go,
You will always know
That The Army Goes Rolling Along.
Verse:
Valley Forge, Custer’s ranks,
San Juan Hill and Patton’s tanks,
And the Army went rolling along
Minute men, from the start,
Always fighting from the heart,
And the Army keeps rolling along.
Men in rags, men who froze,
Still that Army met its foes,
And the Army went rolling along.
Faith in God, then we’re right,
And we’ll fight with all our might,
As the Army keeps rolling along.

Then we had a sword fight betweeen the branches and commenced to drinking and brawling...

And since we were such an "unusual" couple ou song was actually
You're The One That I Want

B= boy/ Danny
G=Girl/Sandy
B: both

G: Tell me about it stud!

B: I got chills.
They're multiplyin'.
And I'm losin' control.
'Cause the power
you're supplyin',
it's electrifyin'!

G: You better shape up,
'cause I need a man
and my heart is set on you.
You better shape up;
you better understand
to my heart I must be true.

B: Nothin' left, nothin' left for me to do.

Both: You're the one that I want.
(you are the one i want), o,o, oo, honey.
The one that I want.
(you are the one i want want), o,o,oo, honey.
The one that I want
(you are the one i want want), o,o, ooooo
The one I need.
Oh, yes indeed.

G: If you're filled
with affection
you're too shy to convey,
meditate in my direction.
Feel your way.

B: I better shape up,
'cause you need a man
G: i need a man
who can keep me satisfied.
B: I better shape up
if I'm gonna prove
G: you better prove
that my faith is justified.

B:Are you sure?
Both:Yes, I'm sure down deep inside.

You're the one that I want.
(you are the one i want want), o, o, oo, honey.
The one that I want.
(you are the one i want want), o,o,oo, honey.
The one that I want
(you are the one i want),o, o, oo
The one I need.
Oh, yes indeed.

I get the pleasure of say my wedding song was betcha by golly wow. I did the version where prince sang it. I love this song and it was not one of those song that everyone and their mother had at their wedding..

Betcha By Golly Wow!

There's a spark of magic in your eyes
Candyland appears each time U smile
Never thought that fairy tales came true
But they come true when I'm near U

U're a genie in disguise
Full of wonder and surprise and...

CHORUS:
Betcha by golly wow! (wow!) (wow!)
U're the one that I've been waiting 4 4ever
And ever will my love 4 U keep growing strong
Keep growing strong

If I could, I'd catch a falling star
2 shine on U so I know where U are
Paint a rainbow in your favorite shade
2 show I love U, thinking of U

Write your name across the sky
Anything U ask, I'll try cuz...

(CHORUS)
Betcha by golly!
U're the one, yes U are! (Don't U let 'em tell U otherwise)
And ever will my love 4 U keep growing strong!

Baby, sometime
A man can't find words 2 express all the things he feels inside
But every just so often
The words of another who's truly in love seem 2 work out fine

2 say I love U (I love U)
2 say I'm thinking of U!

(CHORUS)
U're the one I'm thinking of, thinkin' of
Ever will my...
And ever will my love 4 U keep growing strong
Keep growing strong

I love U, baby
