I was playing fetch with the dog tonight (rescue dog, pretty sure he is a doberman/hound mix, 65lbs, tall and lanky like a mini dane, about 1.5-2 years old)

he brought the ball back and dropped it standing on a very slight slope and then stumbled to the side like he lost his balance. threw the ball again and he did it again.

I seem to remember reading that this was a possible symptom of one of the tick born diseases.

anybody with ideas before i call the vet in the morning?

It is a symptom of a tick borne disease but it can also be several other things... since it sounds like it is neurological(balance) I would take the pup in. Even though he is young, it could lead to other issues. It may not and just be a case of vertigo or an ear infection... but I would have him checked just to be sure.

called vet, but since it hasn't happened again since then they said to keep an eye on him and bring him in if it happens again.

Hoping that I was just overreacting a little since he loves to run around all day untill he is so exhasuted he just flops down on his bed and takes a long nap, and sometimes i have to tell him to drink water because its almost like he forgets.
