yes i am paying rent. I pay every month like everybody else here does.

The first thing I would do would be to speak to the other neighbors. I would ask them if it is an issue to them, and make sure that they knew I wanted a sincere answer. I might even ask them if they had any thoughts on the original complainer - does she get along with everyone else that lives there? (You'll have to judge whether or not it is safe to ask about that though.) In that way, you might gain a better perspective on how big an issue the dog's barking is.

loving life
I now live in an apt at my stepdads store and I have the dog with me. My neighbor downstairs since the day I moved in has complained about the dog barking (she doesn't bark that much) she only really barks when she has to go potty or she is chasing the kitten around she might bark at her once in a while and bruno barks also when i run the vaccuum and this morning I ran the vaccumm at 10min of 9 and she called me and screamed and hollared at me and told me nobody wants me here I am invading everyones space and the dog needs to go. Well I told her the day I moved in bruno and I are here for the long run and she needs to get used to people being home during the day etc and she told me 3x she wants me gone and I am n ot leaving. I think I plan to have a talk with the landlord and tell him what is going on and see what he has to say about it. (the landlord is my stepfather). I personally want this lady gone as all she does is complain.

Since you have a dog living there, can the other tenants have dogs? I am just curious.

Baja i have been trying to keep her as quiet as I can but it doesn't always work. My neighbor is just a big complainer she complains about everything under the sun. She doesn't want me living here she said I am invading her space. Well its hard for me to be invading her space when I spend a lot of time up in my apt or in the store. I today deleted her number from my caller id and wont be talking to her anymore she can call all she wants shes not going to get any answer from me adn if she calls the store i plan to ignore her too.
Most ppl. do not complain about the occasional dog bark. If she calls animal control, you could be looking at fines or having the dog removed. Think about that.

Well if she does she will be gone for good. She complains about everything no matter what it is. She didn't want me to move in here as the dog is the store dog not my dog I just take care of her. the dog only barks really if she has to go out or i run the vaccumm or if shes playing with the kitten and she goes where she can't be reached which isn't very often that she barks at the kitten. I think she was just mad that I vaccummed and she likes to spend her days sleeping and I on the other hand am awake. she said from day 1 I was invading her space because I moved in and she doesn't like sharing space. I live upstairs she lives downstairs. Mind you I don't complain about her but she slams doors and plays her music so loud i can hear it in my apt but when she asks me I say its ok no biggy and mind you she gets home at about 11 or 12 at night and turns her tv on til 5am and I can hear it but I don't complain. She just doesn't like me that is all.

Loving My Life...
You cant put a fence up outside to let the dog get out some? Maybe the "store owner" needs to take the dog..

Do you think getting rid of the kitten will reduce the barking?

yes there is a fence up and we go outside 2 to 3x a day to play. The store owner isn't going to take the dog I already know this. The tenant downstairs just has to get over her little attitude of her not wanting me living here. I plan to talk to the landlord today about this issue and also about her slamming doors when she comes and goes as it rattles my apt when she does it and about her watching tv all night from the time she gets home til she decides to go to bed and blaring her radio. I even called her back after I she hung up on me and asked her what would be a reasonable hr for me to vacccum and she said don't call me again. so i deleted her number etc so if she ever needs to talk shes going to have to talk to my voicemail and never get return phonecalls.

I would put my subwoofer in test mode and turn the volume up.

no i don't think it will help. Bruno is a puppy and all dogs do bark. I even put a bark collar on her and that helps some but not all the time.

I talked to the landlord just now and he basically said to wait til 11 to run the vaccumm and if the lady downstairs still has a problem tell her tough shiat. As my life doesn't revolve around her (its her choice to sleep all day long not mine)

Can you put Bruno in the bedroom or something while you vacuum?

I can't as I don't have an extra bedroom (only one bedroom apt) and my cats live in that room as 1 is afraid of bruno. The only thing I can do is put her bark collar on her and hope she doesn't bark for 15min while i vaccumm

Seems like an awkward situation to begin with. Apart from the neighbor, maybe find a home for the kitty that doesn't like the dog, or a new home for the dog. It would make life easier for everyone, pets and people.

What about a bathroom? Or can't you put her outside while you vacuum? If you know there's something that makes her bark, you really should teach her to quit or remove her while you vacuum. Yes, she's young, but not that young and now is the best time to train her.

Cowgirl-

this neighbor complains about everything as she is used to having this bldg all to herself as everybody else who lived in this apartment worked during the day. I don't work til 3pm most days so she thinks maybe if she complains enough that I will leave and never come back. Well she has a rude awakening infront of her because I am not leaving and going anywhere as I am here to help the landlord out and all she does is stay in the apartment. She doesn't pay rent her boyfriend does and he has 0 issues with me and the dog she is the only one who does. She is also the one who has told almost everyone here that i live rent free which isn't one bit true as I said above I pay like everyone else does here.

I am trying everything I can to keep bruno quiet as a matter of fact she is sleeping right now and hasn't made a peep other than whining as she had to go potty and I was in my room. I also can't help the fact this lady works til about 11pm and then comes home and stays up til 6am til her boyfriend leaves for work then sleeps all day there is no way I can keep a dog from making 1 peep all day long but I try hard to not let her bark but it doesn't always work.

cowgirl I work with bruno everytime she gets in a barking frenzy by telling her no bark and taking her outside to wear her out so she comes back up and rests for a while but that doesn't always work either as she loves to chase shadow around the apartment. I will not be gettign rid of any of my cats or the dog. They are my children and I wouldn't just ditch my children because 1 person has complaints about everything and anything because that is all they now how to do is complain.

Yes they can have pets they just have to pay a pet deposit plus extra money a month in rent. there is one other person here who has a pet and shes got a dog too and her dog barks too when outside.

I thought you couldn't have pets there, did this change within the last month? The neighbor who is complaining, does their name begin with an L?
