Naval Air Station, Patuxent River, (June 17, 2010) -- Naval Air Station Security Force personnel closed Gate 2 to traffic this afternoon from approximately 2:30 p.m. until 5:45 p.m., in response to a possible threat during a routine spot check.
A trained canine indicated that a vehicle could be carrying dangerous materials. Security personnel on duty at the gate acted quickly and appropriately to clear the area of traffic and take precautions in addition to detaining the driver.
At approximately 5:45 p.m., after a thorough inspection of the vehicle, the driver and the vehicle were released and the all-clear was given. Traffic was allowed to resume at that time.

DoD Police dog on crack thought he detected a bomb in a car. (See Baynet.com). Dog of course was wrong which makes me think he was either on crack or not trained very well, with the later, being more likely. The detained driver and his car were allowed to go after being detained several hours. Traffic was then reopened. Of course it happened toward the end of the day to compound problems.
