I have this gang of robins who aren't happy that I'm living in "their" house. They built a nest in my front porch light, so I cleaned it out yesterday. Today it's back, bigger than ever.

They're sitting in the trees in my back yard, glaring at me, and they'll swoop down to fight on my deck and take a crap, then back to the trees they go.

I wouldn't mind them so much but they're messy. Is there a way I can get them to stay in the trees and off my porch and deck? We don't have birds in Frederick, so they're kind of freaking me out.

Our Kitties brought us a mole and a mouse this morning.
They love to flip them into the air, and give them another smack.

My mom's neighbor's cat was feasting on a mouse on my mom's front porch when I got here... He didn't bother to stop his meal when I walked up either. I'm NOT cleaning up the blood.

And the birds are thinking amongst themselves...

So here we are enjoying nature at it was intended to be. Then you come along...fall in love with this location for the same reason we did... move to southern Maryland...and *blam* start complaining about the locals!

If you disturb them enough they'll usually go elsewhere. Has the house been empty for long?

I noticed the crappy deck  but didn't say anything. I was just careful about where I sat.

I had the same problem 2 weeks ago. One wanted to build it where the downspout came near the screens of my deck and poop was already on the screens. I sometimes cleaned the twigs & straw away 3 times in one day but "Robin" was not giving up without a fight. Finally, after @5 days, the robin decided to build it under the deck where it had been for the last 20 years. Don't give up and it will relocate after about a week because their breeding season is short and they need a nest. If you don't want them to build their nest on your lights next year, leave the nest where they built it this year. They'll return & use the same nest each year and usually only one family will nest in a yard because they are very territorial.

The bluejays here will NOT venture onto my deck railings to get the peanuts I put out for them if the cat is out there. I'm just saying..........

Go to store and buy a robin bird house and attach to tree..give them another place to nest and to raise a family.
And keep removing nest from the porch....they will get the idea and find other place to nest.
Put gloves on when moving nest..or wash hand right away.
And robins are good bug eaters!!!
