What's with all these teachers...

I wanna be a SMIB
When I was 16 I lived in a foster home and my foster sister Linda, was madly in love with one of her teachers. I remember he used to stop by the house and see her. He did that several times. I ran away so I didnt get to stick around and see how it turned out. I often wondered. By the way , he was also married. Ah, to be young and stupid again.

This is too bad if it is true. This guy is....I mean was my nephew's history teacher and he really liked him. A lot of people did. It goes to show you that you never know someone as well as you think you do. Apparently they really had something on him if they investigated for 11 months before arresting and charging him.

Ditto. My nephew said he was one of the best teachers he's ever had. What a shame!

Maybe the girl wasn't sure if she imagined it, or if she was overreacting, and the second incident left no doubt. I've certainly had some borderline touch encounters that made me think "hmmm...maybe I just imagined, or maybe it wasn't intentional".

.
I SWEAR it wasn't intentional!!

My youngest brother attends Piccowaxen, and they sent a note home with the students yesterday, so my mom brought it up when I was talking to her on the phone last night. I told her the same thing...he was such a wonderful teacher, and I personally saw him take in students that were on the fast track to nowhere (granted, this was middle school, but still, you have to start early) and turned them around and got them interested in their education. It's a shame that everything he's done with his career before making that stupid decision will have been tainted, and he'll never have the opportunity to be that mentor for children again.

...trying to sex up their students??? There was just another one arrested in Charles County.

I was never sexually approached by a teacher and I don't know anyone who was when I was in school.

Has this ever happened to any of you guys, or anyone at your school?

Nah! I was never that lucky either...

... But if my math teacher, Ms. Gillespie, had ever asked me to stay after school...

Let me say this...agree or disagree, I am not taking sides

Why in this day and age with teachers continually being accused of being sexual predators. would a teacher place themselves in this position?....According to the paper, he admitted hugging students, telling them he loved them?......

he was asking for this whether he did it or not......he's at least gulity of stupidity. If the cops waited 11 months to arrest him (after school) chances are they have some evidence and others willing to say it happened to them too.

Yes, this was Gwynn Park. There was one other teacher there that never messed with me (aside from some mild flirting, but he didn't creep me out), but I know he tried to make out with another student in an empty classroom, because the girl told me.

May I ask what years you went there? Did you go to the Middle School too?

For me, yes, in middle school (9th grade in '79). I was having a problem with another girl in class, I got upset and left the room. The teacher followed me into the empty hall, grabbed me by the shoulders to "comfort" me, then pushed me back into the lockers and tried to kiss me. I turned my head quick and all he got was cheek. Then I ran to the office to call my mother. I can't remember what happened about the near-miss kiss, but I know my mother did not want my father to know, because he had a hot temper and probably would have beat the crap out of that teacher. Then at the end of the year when my yearbook was being passed around, he got ahold of it and wrote something creepy in it, something about "words cannot express how I feel about you," or something like that.

Then when I was a junior in highschool in '81, there was another teacher that looking back on it I know was "grooming" me....way too attentive, complimentary, etc. I was so naive....he wanted to take me on a trip to Europe (just the 2 of us), saying, "All you'll need is some spending money, I'll take care of everything else." Heck, that sounded great to me, until I asked my father and he was like, "NO WAY, don't you know what he wants?" I was so young, I was like.....no, what? This teacher talked me into running for a class officer since he was going to be the sponsor the next year (think of all the great times we'll have, he said), so I did and won. Then I started dating my future husband, which the teacher actively discouraged because, "You should have your freedom during your senior year." When I kept dating him, the teacher turned on me and literally would not speak to me by mid-year my senior year. It made the rest of the year very uncomfortable, because he had also arranged for me to be his aide one of my class periods.

Sometime during the year he had a big party at his house, lots of teens there, and he spent a lot of time in his bedroom with another classmate of mine. We were watching movies and not really paying attention til he came out in his ROBE...and we all about died. No question about what they were doing then. He ended up "dating" this 17-yr-old girl the rest of the school year. I'm guessing he was in his 40's or so, and not real attractive, so he had to lure girls in with other things. I believe he gave her diamond earrings for Christmas that year. She would lie to her parents and say she was at a friend's house, when she would really be with him overnight, or over the weekend or whatever.

Anyway, they ended up getting married after she graduated, and last I heard, they are still together. But the whole thing is repulsive, teachers that prey on their students.

Forget my previous post. I see now you said what years you were there. So you graduated from there in '82? My brother and sis-in-law graduated in '83.

Can you tell me the teachers names? You can karma them to me or in a p.m. :huggy: (The one in high school - did his last name start with an H?)

No. I just know of a few teachers that seemed to like the students.

As it turns out, I have guessed the one Marge was talking about. Everyone that went to GP knew he married his student.
