What's your favorite park, with activities?

I am writing an article about parks in the tri-county area with amenities that appeal to several age ranges. Do you know of a great place that has good stuff for kids, teens, adults, older folks? A place that your whole family sees as a destination?

Please email me with whatever you've got. I'd love to talk to you about your favorite local places...

Thanks,

Christine

Better off asking how they like the parks, not what's there. The amenities are all listed in a nice little chart on DNR's website.

I like Gilbert's Run in LaPlata. My 2 and 3 year olds love the playground. I like to feed the ducks. My husband likes to fish. They also have paddle boats.

I also have loved Cosca Park in Clinton, Md. since I was little. They have a nature center where you can see snakes, an owl, an eagle, a rabbit, turtles. They also have a lake with ducks, playground, and paddleboats. I have not been there for almost 2 years but the last time I went with my husband and kids we still had fun.

Come on over to Merkle...

A mile of Patuxent waterfront, three fishing ponds, 6+ miles of trails, numerous Osprey & raptors, Fishing/observation pier, 4 story lookout tower,
Meeting spot for cyclists, astonomy club, and youth groups...
Discovery room with snakes, turtles & fish...and soon an exhibit on the War of 1812 in the Patuxent area...as well as group kayak trips on the Pax river & marshes.

I could be a bit baised but I like Chancellor's Run.. It's a ball park that has 4 baseball dimonds and a few soccer fields.

I agree with Jayne - Chancellors Run Park.

It's right up the road from us, and it has tons of great stuff. I'm, uh, over 55 shall we say? so the Loeffler Senior Center has lots of great activities for me. There are the ball fields, soccer fields, tennis courts and basketball hoops (I think) to appeal to children of all ages.

And if you're into walking, there are plenty of paved lanes within the park that you can safely stroll leisurely along - but do keep an ear out for the occasional car.

I've been really impressed by how nice this little local park is.
