Wheat and pine litter

Opinions?

We bought a bag of the Petsmart brand of pine pellet litter and a bag of wheat based litter. Going to try them out in the 2 litter boxes to see how they do. Looking for something biodegradable that I can dump in the woods instead of sending it to the dump.

You pee in a litter box? Isn't that taking the earth mother thing just a little too far?

:neener: Someone has to set a good example. :killingme

On a more serious note, cat pee smells horrid and boy kitty doesn't like to cover his crap. The day after changing I could smell "cat box" with the wheat. With the pine/paper we do a complete change out every 4-5 days or so.

My foster kittens use the wheat..it is a finer and softer litter than the pine pellets.....and their tender feet like soft litter!

TY.
Only bought the litter at Petsmart because we were there looking for the corn litter that was talked about last week. Once we decide which to go with, then we will do a price comparison and get it at the cheapest location.

I've tried the wheat and the paper type litters and didn't like them at all. the paper type litter really was stinky I think.

I really like the pine litter. I mix it with clay so it is easier on their feet and the clay helps the pine litter go farther. It totally takes care of any pee smell and I scoop the poop often. It gets pricey tho. I've got 5 cats and 6 boxes.

I'm going to call around the places like Southern States and Hatchers to see if they carry any type of pine litter. Maybe they'd be cheaper than the grocery store.

I'll be on the lookout to see what you think about the litters you bought to try. ;)

Why do you have more boxes than cats? Kinda like my in-laws that have 4 bathrooms with 2 people, who wants to do that much cleaning?

One of the cats is old and another one is a little territorial so I put extra boxes around so I don't have any peeing or marking going on.

You should have one box per cat and even one extra, especially if you have more than two cats. :yay:
