When are groceries supposed to get prohibitively expensive?

I have been assured by the media that I'll be starving to death here shortly because of the "Trump tariffs". Is there a timeline on this? So far my grocery prices have gone down. Eggs, which seems to be the holy grail, are about $2 a carton less than last year. Gas is under $3/gal.

Also, when are we supposed to all die of climate change? Is it still in a couple of years like AOC said or has that been revised?

I want to be prepared.

well you noticed we have gone from

1970's - coming ice age

1990's - Al Gore Global Warming

2010ish ? Climate Change when GW failed to materialize

I'm judgey about people who freak out over "climate change" like that's not an organic thing that was going on before humans ever came on the scene. I wish they'd stick with "ice age" or "global warming" - the bots are going to fall for it no matter what, but at least there could be some plausibility.

Climate is cyclical ....

I never believed the nonsense ...

Stats were published at the time - 1990's the original Doom Goblin Al Bore's Home in Tenn used MORE Electricity than ALL of his neighbors - along the same time the likes of James Cameron were lecturing me about climate when he owns 3 huge mansions and flies around on a private jet
Today the likes of Leonardo C zip about on private jets to green conference after green conference lecturing people - Doom Goblin Greta made a huge deal about taking her wind powered yacht to a conference - HOWEVER when you look at the details - flying a crew back and forth to move the boat around.

when stories started leaking out about climatologists were caught cooking the books, manipulating - I knew this was all about keeping the gravy train flowing - like solving the homeless problem

NOBODY wants to solve a problem, they would be out of a job

Just wait until summer. ICE is arresting and deporting migrant workers. Soon there won't be anyone to pick all the produce we are supposedly going to start growing now that we aren't importing it from other countries.

No imports unless they are taxed highly, no one to pick what crops we do have.

Lets circle back to this thread in 4 months.

I'm an ecologist at heart. I'm all in favor of most anything that cleans up the rivers, oceans, and the air at the source. Much of the 70s legislation did that, even if it was expensive and painful for business, and I'm grateful for that.

However, after all these decades of activists screaming that we're all gonna die, there just is no proof that man is causing climate change, or global temp change or whatever. There IS proof that long term cycles of the sun and earth are the primary reason for any climate change, and has been for eons.

I still do believe we need to clean up our mess, make good decisions regarding auto emissions (GM's initiatives to satisfy CAFE standards were NOT good decisions...) and keep a balanced tradeoff between doing it right and being stupid about it.

We definitely need to be good stewards of the riches of this planet. But a lot of the word salads that fly about regarding protecting our earth make no sense coming from some of the very people who are stomping all over it. They are just ridiculous including Leonardo de dumbie, Greta Thunberg, and the others. They are shrill and have no capacity for logic.

I remember back in the early 80’s, outdoor PE being cancelled due to smog alerts.

Seems you are going to have to wait.... :)

Annual Inflation Rate Hits Four-Year Low; Groceries Have Biggest Decline in Five Years

JUST IN: US inflation fell to 2.3% in April, the lowest since 2021.

Inside that number, there was more good news. Gasoline prices decreased for the third straight month. At home food fell by 0.4 percent, or twice the rate of inflation. Eggs were down 17.7 percent since March, while pork and beef ran at or slightly behind inflation. Overall, grocery prices had their largest decline in nearly five years. (Funny how so many economic failures begin with Joe Biden's inauguration, isn't it?)
