How long? As long as there have been "B" movies. As for the White Coated Gentlemen, you forget "I will see a competent psychiatrist and get cured of all extremely unusual phobias and bizarre compulsive habits which could prove to be a disadvantage."

So, what are the job advancement opportunities for "minion"?

Actually, it’s “Overlord”, thank you. I have half a dozen “lords”, very similar to Vice Presidents in the corporate world- sycophants on overhead. I keep a close eye on them in case they get ideas, and then I have to, well, never mind.
As for the rest, its not easy being Overlord, and occasionally I have to crack the whip. But it’s never indiscriminate or even very frequent; more of an “as required” basis. Minion pay is admittedly low; it is an entry level position after all. But the benefits package is first rate and I pay for the uniforms. If you’re diligent and hard working you could make trusted lieutenant in no time.
