Help "Invisible Dogs"
If you saw Jen's post on the kitten she wanted and what she went through, it's a perfect example of why when you see an animal there and you want it... INSIST on submitting an application. You can always cancel it the next day, but once an application is submitted a rescue CAN NOT touch it.
They won't hold an animal without that ap. When a rescue puts our name on the animal, basically what we are doing is guaranteeing that we get a phone call before that animal is euthanized, nothing more. If we have our name on the animal but it is still at the shelter, it can be adopted by anyone that comes in, OR another rescue can pull it out before we do.
I "think" the reason the shelter won't tell what rescue has an animal is privacy. Not too mention, while you would hope "most" of the public is sane, there are way too many unbalanced John Q Citizen's that will stalk that rescue and make our jobs a living h#ll if we won't allow that person to adopt the animal that we have rescued.
(they won't even tell another rescue, which group got the animal)
I'm glad it worked out for you Jen!
