The attack came two days after Mr. Nava, a leader of the Anscombe Society, a morally conservative student group that speaks out against same-sex marriage and pre-marital sex, received death threats via e-mail. Three other Anscombe leaders and a conservative professor also received the threats.

Sounds like the local affilate of QUEER NATION is getting it's hands into things (pun intended).

There is no question that violence is despicable in any form except in self protection. However, people who are calling homosexual behavior a sin are inviting violence against the homosexual. Similarly, people who want to have laws against what are now legal abortions are inviting death to many desperate women. Why don't they stop preaching a morality of intolerance to groups with which they disagree? They are inviting these horrible acts upon themselves - although that is no justification for such acts.

Amazing. These people have their heads so far up their azz it's amazing they can see or breathe. These groups who preach against abortion or homosexuality are emphatically NOT preaching violence against them - unless they're Muslim or something.

Apparently these schmucks can't understand how you can vigorously oppose something without wanting to kill someone - which given the death threats and so forth, seems to just prove the point.

These same guys will be quick to point out cases such as abortion clinic bombings as anecdotal "proof" of the violence perpetrated by their opponents - but a circumspect inspection of the evidence shows that no pro-life group advocates violence of any kind and nearly every case of these violent acts are perpetrated by small or even one-man groups who are already crazy.

And I've always detested the "you brought this on yourself" defense of violence. Try that in a rape case in court.

Here is what one of them said in another forum when a guy told a story of how he was running and this kid kept goofing off and playing "chicken" with him every time around the track, only to jump out of the way at the last second. Finally the guy yelled at the kid to stop doing it before they both got hurt and the kid started crying.

How about controlling your anger?

ETA: Anyone yells at my kid, I'll punch them in their mouth and set their ass straight. I don't yell at my kids, so I'll be damned if a stranger does.

one time, when i was just a wee...we'll call it 10-12 years old, myself, a couple cousins, my sister, and my aunt (mother to those cousins) were all in a van. Aunt (driving) decided that she didn't want to go down this one dirt road to a park or something because it was a very steep angle and she has vertigo and stuff so she got kinda nervous...so she is backing up (trying to be calm...she is a nervous driver anyhow...i really don't like people driving who are nervous..but thats another story) and my little cousin (only a few years younger) is being very loud and saying god knows what...so i told him to "shut up for a minute". Apparently my aunt took offense to this and talked to me later about it, even though I was trying to help keep her calm, "nobody says bad words to my kids"...i was like "wth...you're kidding right?"
