Where are the cover girls now?

Am I the only one who wonders in the matter of Ward Churchill at The University of Colorado http://forums.somd.com/showthread.php?t=42018&page=1&pp=15

[edited 2/6/2005 - This is the guy who said the victims of 9/11 deserved their fates as little Eichmanns] "Where are all those photogenic widows and family members of the 9/11 disaster who paralyzed the U.S. government with their demands of justice for their family members? They were right on the nightly news (not a plain looking one in the picture ops) every time there was a discussion of the multi-million dollar victims' reparations fund and how it was dispersed. They were right there in the front row of the 9/11 commission hearing. They were right there campaigning for John Kerry in the fall of 2004. Where the fawk are they now?" On O'Reilly last night the only non-press person pestering Churchill was a scrawny cowboy-hat-wearing white man.

...to answer your question, or at least give up some conversation, here's my take.

9/11 cause trauma which is not suppossed to be easy to deal with. Of some 3,000 families that were directly devestated, that is way more than the number of '9/11' families. Those people represent the 'why?' people, people who must persue every last avenue of immersion in the chain of events leading to their lose.

I judge this as neither good nor bad and I would think that in addition chasing personal satisfaction as to why it happened, they also feel a degree of public service, of speaking for many others, of trying to see that it never happens again.

Some dipshit 'teacher' saying they deserved their loss and suffering is not going to give anyone any sort of satisfaction. The Federal governemnt, o nthe otehr hand, is the keeper of the keys; all the intelligence reports, all the plans and meetings and discusions as to what to be worried about, why and what to do.

Now THERE is a place you can direct some grief, searching for the last straw that broke the camels back and whom to hold responsible.

Frankly, this clown, like Dean and Kennedy and Soros et al serve a greater good for us all; they draw attention, by picking the scab, to the puss filled abcess that is todays "Blame America First" crowd. They make it a public discusion and they go on long enough for it to be seen that they are full of ####.

I can deal with him saying the 9/11 victims were little 'Eichman Nazi's' as long as he can deal with me saying he's ingorant and knows not of what he speaks.

Imagine being an American, living in the land of the free and choosing, CHOOSING to be such a miserable wretch.

OK. My reason for asking is that the families never missed an opportunity to speak up when there was money or political gain if someone mentioned the 9/11 victims. Yet in the case of this professor, we've yet to hear from the families.

The title this thread relates to the fact that one or two of the widows have become the spokspersons/cover girls for the families. They are, not coincidentally photogenic and outspoken. Where are they now when their husband, wives, daughters and sons are being called Little Eichmanns?

AAHH! Got it. Sorry for being stupid. :stupid:

Maybe they don't feel that this little [insert appropriate denegrating, insulting, and otherwise descriptive and injurious name] is worth their time or effort. Maybe they feel (possibly correctly) that nobody in his/her right mind is going to listen to or read that drivel he generated. Maybe it's true that the media think the "cover girls" were more conducive to press coverage than these others. Or maybe, because this [same bad name as before] is antagonistic toward conservative sensitivities, the press is going easy on him.

I guess any of the above could be true, but knowing the truth in this case (IMHO) would be knowing a moot point.

Didn't they get what they wanted?? Reparations paid by our govenment to the tunes of millions, based on your "worth".. the shoe shiners family on the ground floor got a LOT less then the executives family on the 70th floor.. I NEVER agreed with what the governemnt did here, set a hell of a precedent.. and placed vallue on human life based on where you were in stature..

Then to have some prima donna wife come on TV and say the governemnt offering her 2M was an insult, she thought she eserved MUCH more then that.. These people were supposed to be smart, educated.. knowing of risk.. where was their life insurance?

a-HA. I deleted my smart remark since it was me being stupid and not you.

It's possible that these families ARE speaking out about the nutty professor, but the media won't grant them airtime. See, that's the thing - we can't really be sure where "the people" stand on anything simply because it still has to get through the media filter. If the brass doesn't think it's newsworthy or they just flat don't like it, we mere mortals will never hear about it except on some internet blog.

For example: A sitting President being accused of rape is a very large deal. But only one network did a story on it. Contrast that to George Bush's fake AWOL and 25 year old DWI - that was a 24/7 bombardment and all the rage on the talk shows for months, if not years.

Someone decides what we get to hear and what we don't.
