Where can I buy a concrete tank cover?

I damaged the cover to my septic system's cistern when I slammed it with the lawnmower.

It's a 26" x 26" reinforced concrete square.

Do you know where I, as a member of the general public, can buy one? (preferrably in or near Waldorf)

Why don't you just make one?
:yeahthat: Make a 24x24 form on a patch of flat level soil out of 2x4's, cut some rebar to fit, bend a piece into an upside down U for the hook. Check out the chart (or ask a guy at Lowes) on the back of a bag of sacrete and determine how many bags you need. Mix it, pour it into the form and let it cure. When it is done knock off the form and use a pipe, and a neighbor to lift it onto the tank.
Total cost: About $25

I've been Googling, but maybe I'm using the wrong terms. Suggestions?

As for making a new one, its actual shape is a little more complicated than a single square--not sure if I'm up for making a form like one I'd need. Besides someone probably has a warehouse full of these things somewhere and I just need one.

BTW "neighbor's yard" is not a good answer either. :)

Has confinement issues..
The watermen supply store in Ridge may have that. It's right next to the lot they have the carnival at every year.

Dang, I can't recall the name....But I know they had those things out in the yard last time I was in there.

What Pete said is not a bad idea, but you might want to put a piece of plywood or even cardboard under the form so you don't pick up alot of dirt.
Since you don't want to make it yourself there's 'Superior Stuctures' on Rt.488 that might have one or they can make one. That's where we get all of our stuff for sewer and storm drains. They are located next to the metal recycling place.

You can buy them from Superior Septic Tank Company in Bryantown (301 274-3772). You can also try Howlin Concrete, I have seen a few of thier trucks with new tanks and lids on them. They are located behind the Mechanicsville Post Office.
