US border agency says it's made biggest-ever fentanyl bust
PHOENIX (AP) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials announced Thursday their biggest fentanyl bust ever, saying they captured nearly 254 pounds (114 kilograms) of the synthetic drug that is helping fueling a national epidemic of fatal opioid overdoses from a secret compartment inside a load of Mexican produce heading into Arizona.

The drug was found hidden Saturday morning in a compartment under the rear floor of a tractor-trailer after a scan during secondary inspection indicated “some anomalies” in the load, and the agency’s police dog team alerted officers to the presence of drugs, Nogales CBP Port Director Michael Humphries said.

Wait, what? It came thru a checkpoint? Now we all know that is just not possible...because...well because Trump said so of course!

ONLY A WALL can prevent drugs from coming into the country!!!!

Mexican traffickers have been increasingly smuggling the drug into the United States, mostly hidden in passenger vehicles and tractor-trailers trying to head through ports of entry in the Nogales, Arizona, and San Diego areas.

They call me ... Sarcasmo
Since they were driving one would assume that they’d come through a POE as opposed to driving cross country, which would probably draw more attention to their endeavor. But I’m just spitballing here. The walkers will not be coming through a POE just ask the folks around MacAllen, TX.

That's because there's a WALL at Nogales.

But what do WE know? Biggest fentanyl bust in history, but - no crisis at the border.

That truck had enough Fentanyl on it to kill most of the people in the Southwest.
Do they really need it in that big a shipment.?
And because this truck went through a checkpoint it has no bearing on what is being brought through in other places.

At the risk of pointing out the obvious:

Tried to bring it through a port of entry and got busted. How many drug runners are bringing their wares into our country successfully because they *didn't*use an official point of entry?

Duh.

And here I thought you like to tout how educated you are. Ever hear of a thing called selection bias? If we only inspect at crossings, and the overwhelming majority of found drugs are through inspection (rather than hotline tips or random stumbling over it in the desert), then the largest ever find is almost always going to be found at a crossing. Also the smallest find. And the majority of every other characteristic you can determine (THE MOST DORITO FLAVORED METH CONFINSCATED AT BORDER CROSSING!)

Kinda makes you wonder how big the REAL shipment is, if the DECOY LOAD was this big.
But we'll never know, since it's probably in a shipping container at a San Diego sea port.
I just hope it's no longer coming into Military bases on C 130s...like it was from 2009-2016...
