And how does one shop for one? It's a gift...

Shopping is indeed a gift.:lmao:

How much will it be used?

How much do you want to spend?

Where are you located?

Stihl and Husquavarna are both good I think.

Milts in Hollywood and I think Lowes is carrying Husky now. If not, True value.

Best thing about Milts is you can take your saw in for a tune up and they will show you how to use it and advise you about what size to get.

I hear nothing but good things about Milts, service and prices. My dad and brother who live on a farm and use powersaws alot never had a complaint.

Thanks for your help everyone!

How much will it be used? Not much; just to make fire wood and maybe some small jobs around the house.

How much do you want to spend? I have no idea...would love a good used one!

Where are you located? Lex Park

MILT's will give you the best customer service and they have all the chains any time you need to replace one, and they will clean/sharpen them for you, your used ones. If you use your saws alot they are really the best. They help you get the right one for the right job and teach you/show you how to use it. They will even let you try one out first.

Might want to get some safety gear too. Gloves, glasses, ear protection, etc.

Milts is the best.
Stihl used to build only first class super heavy duty saws in all sizes but now they have some low end models with too much plastic. The best Stihl's cost a bundle but they are by far the best.

Chainsaw purchase

Try Gardiner Equipment Waldorf next to the Old Wig Wam on Rt 301 S.

Ask for Dean Padgett he will cut you a good deal.
