Why in the world, would a post about God go in the religion forum?

It depends...if you're talking about God in the sense that it's a lowercase word and in quotations, then it seems to me you're just looking for a fight. In that case, you should just keep it to yourself.

Would THIS face lie?
Doesn't He have his own personal forum? Why not just ask to enter that one?
I think He has a Premium Membership too....

I guess, it depends on the topic i.e. 'oh my god!' and i think we can distinguish if it is uppercase or lowercase..

What Nickel said.

If you're posting just to pick a fight, it goes in Chit Chat. If you're posting for genuine religious discussion, it goes in Religion. And don't think I can't tell the difference - I've been doing this for nine years.

Actually, if you are one who believes in "God" (i.e., as 2A and RR say), then, they would call for it to be capitalized because they believe (as I understand it) in the existence of only one God.

However, if you are a believer in the existence of more than one "God", then I can see the use of a lowercase version. And if you're referring to those gods in a religious sense (talking about the possible existence of them or different beliefs about them), I can see why it would belong in the religion forum.

There are more religions/beliefs out there than just Christianity folks. :peace:

This is why I've always said that under the religion title, there should be a "Christian" forum and then a "Non-Christian" forum. I assume that the dominant faith here is christianity and so it should ge it's own forum. But then I've been told to buy my own forum for my silly progressive ideas. :lmao:

Not a bad idea........I'm figuring that Elaine has her own forum for that very reason. :lmao:

Under that thinking, if the majority of the population is white, shouldn't they be allotted a certain percentage of seats on buses, restaurants, et al? I thought it was wrong to discriminate on the basis of race/religion/color/etc. :nono:

I don't see slotted as having a Christian/non-Christian issue. It seems to just be here to pick a fight, which is seriously played out.

And in slotted's context (I assume this poll is in response to his/her poll about God that was moved to chit-chat) he/she is speaking in reference to the God to which 2A refers.

Yes, but most gods in religions other than Judeo/Christian's YHWH are referred to by their names. To wit: Allah, Zeus, Bondye, Amun-Ra, Gluskap.

When referring to gods in a general sense one often proceeds it with the word "a" or "the". To wit: "post about 'a god'" or "post about 'the gods'".

When no article is used, it usually implies the writer is referring to YHWH.

It's a pedantic distinction, true - but you can often determine someone's intentions with such pedantry.

Like when someone's knee jerks and their intention is to imply that a group or groups are generally arrogant and self-absorbed.

Wait a minute now, I said nothing of segregation. You took my words totally out of context. You wouldn't be prohibiting people from going to one or the other. Based on your thoughts, it would also be wrong to have separate churches for Christians and moslems too right?
