Where we have camped

We stayed at Ocean Lakes last year. Very nice resort. We rented a house with my daughters and grandkids. Everyone had a great time.
I bet your grandkids have a blast at that place. They probably never wanted to leave. Short of visiting Mickey, it's got pretty much everything kids want. We were there for a Halloween parade. Those people know how to throw a party and have fun.

Lafayette KOA Holiday, Scott, LA

Decent campground. Has a 5-6 acre lake. I only caught 2 fish out of the lake. I did fish it pretty hard. I just didn't have a lot of luck. Many campers travel with enormous stock pots where they do huge crawfish boils at their campsite.

The real draw of that area is the town of Lafayette, LA. They have great food in that area. All cajun variety of dishes. No shortage of places to buy crawfish. Lafayette has a great down town. There is a Cajun historical village. They have a lot of homes from the 1800s that you can walk through and experience life in Louisiana over 100 years ago.
