Where would one go

To fix their address. When our house was built the house was suppose to be built facing one way (facing out to a "drive"). The builders messed up and faced the house the wrong way (facing into a "court"). When we bought the house all the deed and all other official papers have the address listed as 12345 Somewhere Drive but the actual address is 54321 Anywhere Court. It doesn't pose much of a problem and we get our mail ok no matter what address is used.

Last week the washer went kaput and we had to put a call into the HMS home warranty people. They have our address listed as the 12345 Somewhere Drive address. The other half had to explain to the lady on the phone at length that that address was wrong and they'd never find the house. We'll see if they find the house on Friday.

How do I get this straightened out officially so that we only have one address?

This should have been fixed prior to closing!!! I don't know which one I would start with-either your lawyer used at closing or the county........

When we had our house built in Maryland, they screwed up and told us our address was 45873 when it was really 45871. The day we came to walk the house, the number on the house was wrong, and the deed/closing paperwork had 45873 crossed through, then put 45871. When we closed, they crossed through 45871 and went back to 45873. We also had to call the County's Planning and Zoning office and explain the problem. They fixed their maps/records, and we retained the 45873 number. To this day, the court we lived on has a row of homes that aren't in numerical order! :shocking:

Just move to Virginia.

I'm trying. Could you call the federal gov't up for me and have them open up some firefighter positions for us. That'd be a great help. :huggy:

911 Control Center discovered our address was wrong. They sent us a letter advising us to inform Planning and zoning and the Post Office.
