Which Cell Phone Service Works the Best in CRE?

I am looking to get cell phone service. I live in CRE and I'm worried about dead spots! Anyone have success with their cell phone service and live in CRE? If so, which one works the best for you? I don't want to get locked into a 2 year contract only to find the service is no better than what I have now. Do any of the services offer the two-way radio? (Thought Nextel did but are they still in business?). Any help is greatly appreciated as it's overwhelming what all of the plans offered!

:howdy: You never answered my PM, do you have a classic VW beetle or is your name just something you made up?

Don't think I saw the PM or maybe it went in my junk folder and I missed it....sorry.....I just made it up....no Punchbuggy but I'd love one!! Is that yours in the picture? My girlfriend had one in high school and we cruised everywhere in it....ahhhh, those were the days! Saw one the other day and it was an older Punchbuggy and the man driving it had an old surfboard on top and a old fashioned metal cooler on the roof too. My Dad use to have one when we were growing up (Punchbuggy that is....).....

Any advice on the cell phone? Thanks!

I had Nextel and never had a problem with service in the Ranch Club. I recently switched to Verizon because Nextel phones are ridiculously expensive. With Verizon I haven't had a problem in the Ranch Club, plus their service is better everywhere else.

Verizon does offer push to talk phones, but they are not as popular as Nextel. You can also go on their websites to check coverage maps.

I have a Verizon.

So does my wife ... which means we have unlimited mobile-to-mobile minutes.

So one weekend we did the "Can you hear me now?" test all over CRE.

Didn't find any dead zones in the area - although to be totally fair and honest, we did not take the phones out on the Lake... (so, if you're ever paddle boating out in the middle of the lake, and the algae becomes sentient and tries to kill you... I cannot promise that you can reach help with your verizon. I'll just say it's good odds, but you're at your own risk with that one)

In fact, the only "dead zone" that I know of in Southern Maryland - and it's not even a Dead zone (more like an "iffy-zone") is the Park-Hallish/St. Mary's Cityish area in a few troughs of the area. I lost a call there one time, which may or may not have been weather related.

But one drop in a couple years ain't bad.

I'll check out the Verizon store in Lusby. I looked at their website and the phones to choose from are more complicated to me than the plans they offer. Thanks for your help and responses!

Not sure if you got a phone yet or not, but I would recommend Verizon as well. We lived in CRE until last year and always had the best reception with Verizon. I will say, though, that the phone does make a difference. My hubby and I had better quality phones and could always talk in our house, but my mom had the crappy, bottom of the line phone and had to go out on the deck to talk. I guess you get what you pay for. Also, the deals on phones (even the better ones) are usually better at the Verizon in BJ's if you are a member there than at the regular Verizon store.

You're a LOON :)
:eyebrow: I think you should take the hint.

I have Verizon and I've never hit any dead spots in CRE :yay:

Hmmm that's interesting because when we moved into CRE we had Verizon and they didn't work with a crap and Mojo lives down the street from me. We now have Nextel and have no problems with it.
