Looking to replace washer and dryer this evening but can't decide which is better. The Samsung set is a steam washer and dryer but from what I've been reading about mold issues with front loaders I found myself perusing this LG set as well....

Samsung
Samsung - 4.3 Cu. Ft. 12-Cycle Ultra Capacity Steam Washer - White - WF419AAW/XAA

Samsung - 7.4 Cu. Ft. 11-Cycle Electric Steam Dryer - White - DV419AEW/XAA

LG: white ones are actually 649 or 699 I think

LG - 5.2 Cu. Ft. 14-Cycle Ultra Capacity High-Efficiency Washer - Graphite Steel - WT5101HV

LG - SteamDryer 7.3 Cu. Ft. 14-Cycle Ultra Capacity Electric Dryer - Graphite Steel - DLEX5101V

Also playing into account is that I'm thinking I will have to buy pedestals for the Samsung set. Or do I? How much of a PITA is it without them?

I have a frigidaire set that I bought 9 years ago.....
No problems except the spin axel on mine is one piece and got worn. They changed that so it's easier to replace if you have to.

As for the moldy issue - that has to do with the drain set up more than anything else. I do leave the door open a little and there is a higher concentrate bleach cleaner that you run through to clear out the lines (I do mine once a year). I use well water so I don't have clorine in my water - using the cleanser is a good idea.

Mine are in a closet under the stairs (no basement) so I don't have pedestals. I use the space above for some old cabinets I got for free and painted. Much better than the pedestal in my case but if I had a laundry room or basement I might have got them to lift the machines higher so I don't have to bend as much.

Oh - and I threw my son's queen size comforter in this morning to defunk it. Love that front big loader :)
