Harper's Ferry, WVA, short ride from down here hotels and slots in Charles Town (5-8 miles) or the KOA Harpers' Ferry which is a stone's throw from the outfitter.

Whatever outfitter you choose call ahead and ask about water conditions. Early spring means higher and faster water. As it gets warmer the water gets lower and less thrilling.

We have used this outfitter 3 times. A+++ Look for the Fall Upper Gauley trips. Big drops (Class I to V+), complex rapids and excellent scenery characterize the Upper Gauley . Some of the major rapids encountered include 'The Big Five": Insignificant, Pillow Rock, Iron Ring, Lost Paddle, and Devil's Backbone (also known as Sweet's Falls). Because of the challenging nature of the Upper Gauley , we do not recommend this for folks who are intimidated by prior rafting trips, unadventurous or cannot swim. Min. age is 15.

They serve you an excellent lunch riverside.
