We have metrocast for internet and vonage for phone. I can not say I am pleased with either but don't know if I am being fair. My internet goes down now about once a week; is that weather or metrocast? I don't know. My phone has not be getting clear clarity. Is that my new $100 phone or vonage; again, I don't know. I could use any input on your experience with these providers or others so I can make a good decision on what to do next. I was tempted to do metrocast for phone, but then I am not happy with the connection isssues. Thank you much.

Thank your lucky stars! We live in the way down deep boon docks. Hughes and Verizon. Latency on Hughes is atrocious!

We have a Sprint Air Card for the Internet and Verizon for the house and cell phones. Were we live there is no cable.

What love is all about
Metrocast and they suck for both. Our internet is going down like yours and everyone elses. We had it hooked up two weeks ago this past Monday. Out of those two weeks it went down at least 3 times a day. Now of course when the internet goes down the phone does.

That is an understatement - if you can switch to an air-card do it!

We had Hughes before the air-card... http was not toooooo bad, but https was a biatch.

Verizon for everything: phone, cell & internet and have had almost zero problems. Verizon management sucks (can you hear me now?) but their service is dependable.

Comcast for all. Yes, I hate to say it, but the download/upload speeds have always been great, VOIP works a hell of a lot better than I thought it would, and the HDTV is working out REALLY well. Only thing that will beat it is Verizon FiOS, but that's only if it's available to you <sob>.

I WANT FiOS!!! Yes Verizon! Southern Marylanders WILL pay for it!

It seems the new expensive phones are just trash compared to older phones. We just got some new phones and the sound is just horrible and scratchy. They will be going back.

Have had metrocast for the last 3 or so years. Verizon for our phone service. No problem with either and we're almost in Ridge.

We have the same and I haven't had any problems. We have DTV for television as I had enough of MetroCrap a few months back.

Someone tell me about Vonage?? PLEASE

I think the point most were making was that Vonage is only as good as the carrier it's riding on. If you have cable and it goes out 3 times a day, you probably don't want a phone system that uses cable.

I had a friend who had Vonage. It was easy to set up and use, sound quality was good, but I always noticed a significant delay in talking with each other, like a cell phone in a fringe area. It was annoying. They eventually dropped Vonage and went with Verizon VOIP. The service is better, clearer and no delays.

If you're truly interested, I just saw a TV ad during lunch. If you sign up with Vonage now, the first 3 months are $9.95/mo.

The clarity issue could also be your internet or if your signal is not strong to your Vonage router. We had Vonage before (with Comcast) and had problems with dropped calls, fuzzy calls, etc. until a tech came out and we found out that our cable lines were split like 4 times within the house for whatever reason. He ran a new line directly from the box outside to our router and it was wonderful after that. Only problems after that were when the power or cable would completely go out. Although, at least with Vonage you can have it automatically forward to your cell phone. You can't do that with Comcast phone service, which we have now. I liked Vonage when we had it. It was just alot cheaper to combine it all under Comcast when we moved.
