I'll go with Whitney Houston. She had incredible range.
Amy Winehouse had a very distinct voice. Too bad she did early check out. It would have been interesting to watch her career arc.I'll go with that. As much as I love Aretha, sorry but Whitney had the pipes.
Runners up:
Linda Ronstadt
Ann Wilson
Lady Gaga (it's easy to dismiss her but she has a terrific voice)
For the guys there's Freddie Mercury, Michael Jackson close behind, then there's everyone else. People like to say Frank Sinatra but that was more marketing than anything because he wasn't that great. Dean Martin and Bing Crosby had a much better voice than Sinatra.
See I don't think being able to hit a high pitch at a high volume necessarily makes it the greatest voice. Out of your list the only one I would rank near the top is Freddie Mercury.I'll go with that. As much as I love Aretha, sorry but Whitney had the pipes.

:fixt:Not's: Neil Young and Janis Joplin. "Artist" I saw up close and personal that was a totaldickding-a-ling. Chuck Berry.
From the Doobie Brothers?See I don't think being able to hit a high pitch at a high volume necessarily makes it the greatest voice. Out of your list the only one I would rank near the top is Freddie Mercury.
In no particular order:
Freddy for power (Steve Perry runner up)
Tom Waits for grit
Luther Vandross for smooth control (Michael McDonald or Sinéad O’Connor runner up)

I cannot stand to listen to anything from him or Queen.See I don't think being able to hit a high pitch at a high volume necessarily makes it the greatest voice. Out of your list the only one I would rank near the top is Freddie Mercury.

Not familiar with him.For rock I would go with Chris Cornell. That four octave range was amazing.
I try to not sell $hit and keep my customers coming back for more I forget his name. 1 of he crooner type singers from Ally McBeal had a great voice.
I have a lot and even my old cassettes. Some bootleg from Europe from 1983!I buy and sell CD's of many genres though metal, grunge and classic rock sell best. I clean all CD's and try to put them in decent cases. In many instances, I play them to make sure they are good to go if they are not in mint condition or are marred.
There are some cd's that are not at all appealing to me but I grit my teeth and listen on low volume anywaysI try to not sell $hit and keep my customers coming back for more
