I wanted to preface the two above videos to the story of Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams' song 'Blurred Lines' and the copyrights lawsuit they lost to Marvin Gaye and his song 'Got to Give It Up' to the tune of $7.4 million dollars. The two songs really aren't remotely similar. But I was pretty astounded the Beatles got away with 'Come Together'. It so closely relates to Chuck Berry's 'You Can't Catch Me'. And The Beach Boys 'Surfin' USA' and Chuck Berry's 'Sweet Little Sixteen' are nearly identical. I really had no idea the Beatles did this at all. It's one thing to be inspired, but this really is copy right infringement. Of course it's up to Chuck Berry to take action; which he obviously didn't. But I was speaking more to how loosely the 'Blurred Lines' suit was interpreted. I'm wondering what doors this may open in the future.
